App Reviews: Crashing and not loading?

Hi Guys, I recently launched my app. You can see/download the app at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/neopal-lite-for-neopets/id446659293?mt=8 Several comments on the US and Canadian stores have said things similar to App Won't Load, Won't even open and Crashes continuously. Also Internet doesn't load. I understand these reports could be on the users end, but are there any bugs in BT, or things I should change in my source code to fix the stability of the app? I find it hard to believe such issues could be arising, especially seeing that Apple test apps, and wouldn't accept an app that didn't open. There are several positive reviews as well, which shows it works for some people. If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them. Thanks

Yeah, this is bad and you should do what you can to figure it out and minimize the issues. There are lots of ways you could have compiled and setup the thing so some of this is hard to guess. But, I'm thinking the URL your app is pulling it's config data is coming from your control panel (most do). The last few weeks have brought some serious slow-downs to the Refresh process for many many apps. Your's could have been one? If the app failed to refresh all sorts of things may have happened. The backend is lightening fast again so today it should not be a problem - assuming that was the problem to begin with. There are other things that could be happening but it's tough to guess wihout know more about the messages. I can say that if you tested your app well before submitting it, and Apple approved it, it's very very likely that my comment above is the reason some user devices failed to load some config data. About all your're going to be able to do is remove it from your phone totally, re-download it from the App Store and see how it works. If it's broken for you, fix it. If not, try to respond the the users that had a bad experience (in the App Store comments maybe?) then sit easy knowing it's all good.

I can't respond to the comments- I'm based in Aus and can't make a US iTunes account. Yes- I've tested thoroughly and never had an issue. I'm sure it was just an issue with the backend. Trying to think of a solution to replying to the comments....

Still getting the negative reviews... v. odd. Here is one review which explains the problem in more detail: ugh, this app crashes & won't let me in. I click on the app, the screen turns black, & then it closes. :( I should note that I do have a splash screen- however it is stored locally so it is unlikely to be causing the issue.

I have a lot of negative reviews like this also. And also I can't respond to the comments like you. I think some of these users haven't updated their iPhone lately, some of them are using jailbreaked phones and some don't even read (I explain in my app info that it's a live updating app so tap refresh as soon as you download it) the app info screen. Maybe the sum of all these users are little in number but I have a feeling this can be the part(not all of it, there must be something else) of the problems they are having. So my advice, at least tell your users to refresh the app manually as soon as they download it, by writing this to the app info. The negative comments nearly stopped after I did this. Hope this helps.
