They display banner ads in your app. People click on them and you earn money. I'm still averaging $10+ a day. I still can't fully process the potential of apps. Build an app, stick it in the marketplace and that's it, zero promotion. I've spent years building websites then spending 8 hours a day constantly promoting them to get a few dollars a day.
