Error with AVD

I am trying to compile and test my first app, however when I open up Eclipse and I follow the video examples, when I get to the part where I select the Run button, and then select Android Application I get this message, No Compatible Targets were found. Do you wish to add a new Android Virtual Device? When I select yes, it opens the Android SDK and AVD Manager. The problem is that when I try to creat new AVD's it never works....what do I need to do to make it work?

Ah... this makes sense. Before launching your app, see if you can open the AVD Manager to create a new AVD with Google v1.6 API's. This is different than the Android v1.6 API's. So... add the manager, then launch it. Your app is still not running, just the simualtor (emulator). Next, after it's running, do the 'run as Android application' process. You'll need to get an AVD running with Google v1.6 API's before it will work.
