Android file system access

Is there a way to read and write files in order to store file settings?

Sure. There are a few ways to do this and the method you choose depends on your needs. Have a look at this method: public void saveText(String fileName, String theText) in the AppDelegate.java file for an example of how to save a simple text value to the file system. To read the text value you saved, see the public String getLocalText(String fileName) method in the same file.

Can I call them from within buzztouch, or do I have to modify the source code after downloading?

If you man calling these methods from the buzztouch control panel, no, you cannot. You'll need to modify the source wherever you want to use the methods.
