Number of Images limits

IM creating an app that basically will be a gallery of the jewelry I create and sell via my website. I have the menu broken down into catagories ( rings, pendants etc ) but is there is total image limit? so that I can plan ahead? say 20 of each if the limit is 100. Also, am I able to integrate shopping? My website uses paypal shopping carts if those are compatible..? Thanks in advance. Trish

Are you developing with v1.5 ? With 1.5 you can put all your picture files in the app or call them from a an online URL..pictures should be unlimited...if using 1.4 I don't know of any limit on uploads. I don't know of any other way to get to your shopping cart than to link to the website..but other members might have better knowledge.

It's best to load your images from an external source (your own website, flick account or service like drop box). Including them in the app build will make your app unnecessarily large. Also you lose some flexibility -- if you want to change images you need to recompile and resubmit to apple. By loading from an external source, you can make changes whenever you want and you never have to resubmit to apple. PayPal has developed tools for integration into iPhone apps. It's a bit techie, but you can check out the info here: https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=developer/e_howto_api_ECGettingStarted The other option is to utilize an iphone compatible shopping cart that has paypal integrated. I'm sure a quick Google search will turn up options.

ahhok this is my first app, and I was just using the built in app features to add a single image makes sense that since it's a catafalque, that I'd like to keep it small. As for version IAN, I just joined buzztouch, so whatever the current version is, is what IM using. I havent compiled anything yet, as I wanted to be DONE, before doing that. My friend that told me about the site, is having some problems with hers, as she compiled, to give it a 'test run' and now that she wants to work on it again, the version has been upgraded from what she used before, and she's having problems. OK so to call images from a website, I have server space where they are hosted now. DO I just choose the insert a URL option. I forget what the exact wording is.. ALSO, is there a way to just set the background to a default black color? Since all my images are different sizes, Im having to redo each one, by placing it in a 320x340 black background, which makes each image a bit larger, and more over takes time. When if I could set the background to be a default color, I could just use the images AS IS, and things would be moving along so much faster. Thanks for the replies thus far, it makes a world of difference when the new person has help/feedback to stay encouraged. Trish

So it looks like you are using v1.5. Good....so you created an image gallery (under Advanced Gallery Properties you will find options for background color etc), then you can call each image in the gallery from a URL...play around with this stuff to see all the cool things you can do...it will be much easier if you download your source code now and run in the Xcode simulator to see the changes...good luck!

@Ian.. ahh looks Like I might need to start over. What I have done so far is this... - set up my home menu Rings, Pendants etc.. and under each of those have listed the 10 images. Was time consuming to put each image off my website, onto the appropriate sized black background and then upload to the app. - so the redo plan should be this? Create gallery, then advanced gallery properties, set background to black, and then just call each image from my existing server space via url. - Will also check into the xcode simulator. I guess I was thinking that it was a paid thing, as I know my friend who took the apps class on campus they got a provisional license that lasted 3 months, and after that if they wanted to keep it, it had to be paid for. So I will check on xcode. Also I havent started my re-do so my question may be premature.. but can I call an entire image folder via url and then on the app they just scroll thru. or does the url for each image need to be inputted? Trish

In version 1.5 not 1.4 you will create your screens on The Manage Screens and Menus page...select image gallery and give it a nickname...an easy way to call a whole gallery is to set up a Flickr account and it will show up in the gallery (search this on forum and google)....you will need Xcode and a Mac computer to compile your apps and developer account..no way around this...if you do not have these things let me know and I can help you...cheers!

@Ian OK I think Im on track now. I was indeed using 1.4 and just saw there is now 1.5. I started a fresh app. and do indeed see the gallery feature. I will also do your suggestion and create a flickr gallery and then call the whole gallery via url. I will check with my friend Teresa and see what the deal is with her xcode. I do think at the conclusion of class it may have expired. I do have access to a mac via her computer. And it appears that I can do the balance of the work via my PC.
