App Refresh times out

HI, This is a problem ive been facing for weeks and i thought may be fixed but has not yet done so. The app asks me if i would like to refresh, i click yes and just wait until it times out, that is when i get the check internet connectivity error. Ive checked the configuration data and timed the load time and it took 35 seconds to load, i think this may be my problem. I dont know what to do. I thought this may be affecting all my apps ad it does not, just this one in particular. David or anyone, any suggestions? Please advise. Anthony

Hello Anthony, I think this can happen if you have a large app with lots of screens/content. One of the apps I am working on has several screens and the configuration data was taking around 15 to 20 seconds to load from the Buzztouch server. I am thinking that the larger the app, the more the database queries add to the load time. To ease the strain for my app, I created a simple, quick and dirty PHP script that copies and caches the config data onto my server. When a user refreshes my app, the app data is coming from my server. Since it is a flat file, it loads quickly. If I make a change in the Buzztouch control panel, I simply re-run the the PHP script, which caches a fresh copy of the config data on my server. I think the Buzztouch team is working on a set of scripts that will help keep the config data synchronized if you wish to run your app's config data off of the Buzztouch server. Anyways, not sure if this answers your question entirely, but if you have a larger app, it may be the culprit like mine was. Best Regards, Brian-

Hi Anthony, With your permission, if you give me the name of the app giving you the issue, I can take a look at it for you to see if I can find anything.

I was having the same problem which is one of the main reasons I disconnected my app from the buzztouch control panel. I initially kept the report to cloud and dataurl in the config.txt file for the app for my iphone only but even stoppe doing that since it kept timing out. Now, if I make changes, I just download the new config.txt file on my computer and update it that way. the user, luckily, doesn't have to deal with it.

Did you have to set up a server to do this?

No server, I just put the vast majority of content within the app itself. Then there are a few sections which access content on the internet. Then you just go in your config.txt file and remove the report to cloud and dataurl sections. When you reinstall the app on your device you'll see the refresh icon at the top left is no longer there. Problem solved (for the user anyways). Josh
