Issue creating new V1.5 App - Error #6

Hi, I've tried to create a new V1.5 App. I. After I enter the App name and tick the two boxes, then hit submit, I get the following error message: Oops, something went wrong processing your request? (6). When I go to My Apps, the App I tried to create appears there, however it has not automatically created a Home Screen menu. I've created the Home Screen menu myself, but find that the background colour of the screen stays black, and does not update in my Simulator when I make changes to the menu title or colour of the background. Ideas appreciated. regards Tricia

Hi in Brisbane: We've not heard this before. It sounds like the app-creation process failed, not sure why? Maybe try creating a new app (another v1.5 app) and see what happens? Happy to help, not sure what failed.

Thanks David. I've now done the following testing to help diagnose the problem: Tried to create a V1.5 new App using: a) wifi at home - macbook air & iPad b) 3G outside - iPad c) hardwired internet connection from internet cafe - internet pc I've done the above with a Safari and also iCabMobile browser on the iPad. I've done some google research and found the same error messages in these places: http://support.enstore.com/discussions/problems/1179-unable-to-process-payment (issue with Australian based user) http://stackapps.com/questions/1592/stack-exchange-notifier-chrome-extension http://stackapps.com/questions/1422/stackengine-facebook-app-to-embed-reputation-badges-etc-from-user-stack-exch And the following BuzzTouch user: basement on 7 april 2011: when I add links to an html page using the built-in editor, I get this error: Oops, something went wrong processing your request? (6) and I can't save the file. However, If I add the links in Dreamweaver then copy/paste the entire page code into the html source window it works. (iOS, Buzztouch 1.5, Safari Version 5.0.5) And, it works perfectly fine creating a V1.4 App. I am thinking it could be something about V1.5 and my location Australia , or even Brisbane - perhaps but wierd ??? Assistance greatly appreciated. I'm continuing to develop my App but am unable to test it in the simulator as the simulator doesn't update properly. cheers Tricia :)

Hi Tricia, cool to think you're struggling through this...must suck! So, there are some differences between v1.4 and v1.5 but the only differences (as far as Xcode should be concered) is the Frameworks. The built-in iOS frameworks that the project relies on are listed in the Frameworks folder (look in your Xcode project). I wonder if there is something wrong with these references. You see, in order to use Frameworks in a project you need to tell Xcode to 'add them.' Normally, if you were creating an app from scractch you would 'add frameworks' for each one you need. You could look at the folder, jot down the list of frameworks you need (so you don't forget them), then remove them all. Next, re-add them. The idea is that you'll be adding them as they related to your computer. In other words, it's possible that they are not located in the place the project expects? Grasping here...just an idea. I'll continue thinking about it and re-post if I think of anything. Lastly, how did you hear about us? Neat to think there are folks Down Under using our tools - exciting!

Hi David, thanks so much for your reply. I tried the framework delete, then re-add, compile but to no avail. I've created another test app and this time used the tabbed menu which works fine. However, the same nagging problem of the body of the screen staying black is still there. When you click on the app icon, it quickly flashes white, but then goes straight back to black. The same applies if I use a regular list home screen, it flashes white with the menu items, then quickly flashes back to black. And then I can't change the black at all. Any more ideas? When I try and create new apps, I still get the same error message oops something happened etc. Also, BuzzTouch was mentioned briefly on a Brisbane program earlier this week. They were doing a story about Apps etc and they said you can even create your own using BuzzTouch. I just caught the end of it. That's where I heard about you guys. I think BuzzTouch is doing for App development what WordPress and SquareSpace did for website development - making it accessible for people willing to learn a new skill without having a programming degree. I'm a Cobol programmer from a long time ago - so very excited about creating Apps again - so thanks! cheers Tricia

Brisbane program - cool, happen to remember what it was called? I've re-read the posts in this topic. If i'm understanding correctly, it sounds like the control panel is allowing you to create apps and adjust things in those apps without any problem. In other words, no more 'Oops, something went wrong processing your request? (6)' message. Assuming that's the case, we'll need to figure out what's loading when you tap the icon to launch the app. What home screen, what theme, etc. What app are you working with? You have several in your control panel and I'm happy to download and look into whatever one you choose. Post the apps name and I'll see if I can compile and run it here.

Hi David, I will try and find the program on the Internet. I think it was either Channel 7 news or Today Tonight on channel 7 which comes on straight after the news. Stay tuned. I still receive the Oops message when I try and create a new v1.5 app. And I still have the issue with the V1.5 app having a black screen and being unable to change screen background colour. When the v1.5 apps initialize , they instantly flash up the correct white background with list menu, then immediately the screen turns to black. My real app is called InfoOcean and I have created a lot of screens for this App. I have created the other apps to test and play around with, trying to work out a solution. The weird thing is that v1.4 apps function fine. If we are unable to work out a solution, do you know if it is possible to convert my InfoOcean v1.5 app back to v1.4, so I don't lose the work I've done on it? Thanks for your help, cheers Tricia

Got it! Here's what I did. a) Downloaded InfoOcean. Launched in Xcode. All black, could not see a thing. b) Looked at your apps theme and home screen style settings.. Tinkered with some color changes...nothing seemed to make any difference....hmm.. c) Looked at your Global Theme screen. One theme in the list. Click the 'activate' link for the theme. Bingo..it was not 'active' meaning the app had no themes in use. Ugh. When you create a new app the default theme should be active and it was not...not sure why? It could be that one was removed or something leaving none active. Not sure. Run it in your sim, click refresh, see if you see the colors I chose. I can, finally!

Wow thanks - it works! O'K, here is what I think happened......when I tried to create a V1.5 app, it bombs out and I get the Oops, something went wrong processing your request? (6) error. It doesn't finish creating the source code and I would suspect that activating the theme is one of the very last things it does before it completes successfully. I suspect that it throws up the error (6) message just before it has a chance to do the 'activate a theme' thing, then bombs out on me. I can only guess the error (6) has something to do with being in Australia as it still bombs out each time I try and create a V1.5 app, very weird - however all good feedback for bug fix etc. Again, thanks so much for your help - aren't you supposed to be having a July 4th holiday today - stop working - go celebrate! ps: love the V1.5 documentation - great job! regards Tricia

Fireworks over.... major show...good stuff. Get this, we are vacationing in Oregon about 500 miles north of home. My father-in-law is the Fire Chief here and he goes absolutely nuts each year with thousands of folks blowing stuff up. Super funny. The most layed back guy every nuts up once a year on the 4th. So, the kids and I drove around with Grandpa in the fire engine and pretended not to notice fire after fire afte fire all over town. Total crack up. glad the theme thing worked out. Still can't figure out why you can't make v1.5 apps, seems everyone else in your part of the world is! Next vacation stop... Fenway park in Boston for a Red Sox game...only 3000 miles away. Night.
