App rejected because Apple say it uses location data

my quiz app was rejected by Apple because they said it uses location data. I checked in the App's core properties and start tracking location is off. I have no idea why/how/where the app is using location data. 4.4: Location data can only be used when directly relevant to the features and services provided by the app to the user or to support approved advertising uses. David - any chance you could check it out and see what the problem is? It's the Canada App. thanks!

You need to disable it and re-compile your app. When you disable the function in your control panel, users have to Refresh your app to actually have it disabled. Therefore, the first time they open it, the data tracking appears. This is also why you should completely finish your app, then submit it. Otherwise, everyone who downloads your app must refresh it. This may take a long time for some people living in foreign countries or with a slow connection, especially with the traffic BuzzTouch receives and with large apps with lots of content. I'm updating all of my apps to make them 100% offline. Everything works much better that way.

I just checked through the app and I didn't see the location data icon appear anywhere. I need help finding out what's going on. Start tracking location is off in core properties now, and it was off when I submitted the app to Apple. That why I'm confused. If I double-triple check it's off in core properties then recompile the app and resubmit, how do I know for sure that will solve the problem when the test app on my iphone now doesn't seem to use it.

Take a look at your BT_Config/BT_config.txt file. That is your configuration file. When your app is initially installed that file is referenced before it goes out to the network to check for an update. You may want to go into your app's control panel -> Manage Core Properties -> Configuration Data URL -> Click here to show the apps configuration data., view source of that file and then copy/paste into BT_config.txt in xcode. Recompile and you should be all set!

Hey Jenny21, how exactly are you making everything offline? I'd love to hear how. Thanks!

@ javooooo: Search the word 'offline' (no quotes) in the forum search box. Several discussions about how to do it. Not too complex once you understand some basics. It's all about removing all the URL's in the config data (you can use your control panel to do this) so the app doesn't look online for updates.

Thanks Cteselle, your advice worked. My app is now pending contract, which was mailed to Apple earlier this week. DJBrook...are you using buzz touch 1.5?

I just got the app rejected for location data also, I cant figure out how to disable... I am using 1.4, 1.5 ive tried and it seems very confusing to me. Is there someone on here that can help me out and explain how to disable this so that I can resubmit to apple? I worked for 3 straight weeks making this app and so this is quite frustrating..
