Do you guys think it will be possible down the road? That's the one feature holding me back from upgrading all my streaming audio apps to 1.5 (would be very cool). I'm not a coder but from what I can tell, in the audio control code in the app currently tries to download the entire .mp3 file to a local temp space then play it back, is it possible to have it pull down some data then start playing, like from a live shoutcast/icecast url?

Try entering the URL in a Custom URL Screen. See what it does. Bet it plays. In our opinion this is a bit of a workaround because you can't control how the native player looks and feels. Not sure if we'll ever get around to doing all the coding necessary to support shoutcast. See how that works.

That works great in 1.4, can do .mp3 streams as a streaming audio page or a custom URL and .AAC as a custom URL. (icecast url's) The ultimate solution would be using the streaming audio page in 1.5 allowing for custom player controls, background image/color control :D I might have to buckle down and try learning some objectiveC >_< Thanks!

We agree about the controls 100%. Have you tried the shoutcast URL in that screen type? It's been awhile on this end. It may work? If it doesn't, there are a few packages out there that may do what you want. Get your hands on some example code (google's your friend) and have a look at BT_Screens > BT_screen_audio.m I'll be you get it going.

I stumbled across this project that has a solution for playing live feeds from Icecast servers, tested with mp3 and aac. Maybe you guys could integrate it! DId this idea die? I'm making a new app in 1.5 and if its .mp3, controls are fine, however I'm trying to do a live stream through the app, .m3u file. It works if I create the channel as custom URL - but I lost ability to keep playing if you move away from the app! Any ideas or work arounds? Thanks, Erick

Did anyone ever find out how to play a shoutcast .pls stream on android? It works fine on ios if you use the page link method on 1.4 but doesn't work for android. Haven't tried it on 1.5 but assuming it doesn't work for android either?

many times when people try to do this they don't use the true URL that the audio came from example-if you go to a streaming radio online that uses flash player that URL is not the true URL that the audio is coming from, it's just the player

Thanks for the input. When I was trying to do this on 1.4 for android I put in the url of the actual stream. The url of the ip address that the stream is coming from and not the website page I have a flash player playing the stream. It however did not work. Did you find a solution to this? If so would you please instruct me specifically what I need to be doing? Would greatly appreciate the help.

I tried this little trick and it seems to work for android with mp3 streams. Find your shoutcast url: strip off anything after the id. http://yp.shoutcast.com/sbin/tunein-station.pls?id=1278316 and just add .mp3, becomes; http://yp.shoutcast.com/sbin/tunein-station.pls?id=1278316.mp3 Let me know if it works coz no android device to test.
