app refresh keeps timing out

I have my live app disconnected from Buzztouch so refreshing the app is not a concern with users. However the version of my app that I keep on my device is still connected so that I can refresh the app as I make changes to my control panel. For some reason I've noticed over the past month that the overwhelming majority of the time I try to refresh my app it times out giving me the there was a problem downloading some data... message. This happens on the simulator too and this is what xcode shows: 2011-06-18 19:19:26.293 erres[3002:207] erres_appDelegate: downloadFileStarted: starting download... 2011-06-18 19:19:51.293 erres[3002:207] erres_appDelegate: downloadFileCompleted 2011-06-18 19:19:51.294 erres[3002:207] erres_appDelegate: hideProgress 2011-06-18 19:19:51.294 erres[3002:207] erres_appDelegate: the download process reported an error?: ERROR: Code: -1001 Description: The request timed out. 2011-06-18 19:19:51.294 erres[3002:207] erres_appDelegate: hideProgress so it says the download was completed, but then times out? Usually if I just keep hitting refresh eventually it will work. And again, its not affecting my live app so I'm not overly concerned but sometimes I have to refresh 10 times before it works. And yes, this even happens with a strong wifi connection. Weird.

This is weird. The link in your control panel Core > Show Configuration Data loads the exact same data as the app when the app's refresh button is clicked. Click this link in the control panel to show the data, how long does it take? If this file is massive, super-duper huge I guess it could take too long?

I did it three times and it took 20 seconds each time. So then I tried downloading my project and the compilation took 25 seconds. The actual size of my config.txt file though is only 170 kb. So I guess its just taking a long time to compile my stuff to create the config.txt file? [update]- I went through and deleted all of my obsolete screens of which there were surprisingly many. My total number of screens went from 280 to 210. It now takes 15 seconds to get my config.txt file to load. And now my phone has successfully refreshed 3 times in a row. I guess that five seconds makes a big difference!

I guess thats good. We are upgrading some backend stuff again to try to speed the process up for larger apps. We went through a major upgrade only a month ago and we're already outgrowing the hardward - geeez it's hard to keep up ;-) When we get migrated again things should perform better.

Hey Guys, I seem to be experiencing the same issue as previously discussed. One of my apps continues to fail to refresh on both the simulator and device. I have full service, internet is strong and it keeps telling me There was a problem downloading some date. Check internet connection.I get the option to click yes to refresh but every time i click, it times me out. I haven't has a content refresh in over 3 days. I did what you suggested and timed how long the data took to open in the core properties section and it took 35 seconds.I've tested other apps that contain more content than this one and they refresh fine. Any Suggestions.I've even tried recompiling the data and that did Zero. Please help. Thanks, Anthony
