Creating A Dictionary App

I am trying to create a dictionary app but am finding this a bit confusing (Please bear with me as i am very new to this process). I just wanted to create two tabs (Which i have kind of worked out) :- 1) An index page where i add all the words and when you click on it, it forwards you to the meaning which i have typed up / defined. (Similar to the contact app - click the contacts name and it takes you to their profile you have saved on the phone). 2) A notes tab where you can write and save your notes which highlights day and time of entry. I would be grateful to anyones help who can point me to the right direction. - Thank you.

Sounds like fun. Have you setup Xcode or exclipse yet? Once you do and fire the app up in simulator things will make a lot more sense and you'll see how screens, menus and clicks work.

I have installed and setup Xcode-4 and fired up the simulator so i can see each changes as i work along. From the Getting Started tutorials i have managed to create each row as a word from the Add Row To Menu by typing the word under Row Title and then selecting Custom HTML - Text from the drop down toolbar. Once that is done i click onto Custom HTML - Text and add the definition of the word. So in that aspect i have managed to work something out (I don't know if that is the right way or not, but it seem to be working). The problem i am having is i cant get the side option to scroll alphabetically up or down (Like you can do in your Contact - Phonebook Application). Plus i want to have a search tool bar ontop so you can type the word and directly jump to it. Basically i just want to create the same replica of the phonebook contact section but instead of saving people to numbers, i am saving words to definitions. Thanks for reply MacApple. Just hope i can work this out!

Excellent, sounds like progress. Many ways to skin a cat as a man once said and you are well on the way now. Keep playing, keep learning and before you know it you'll be submitting it to Apple!

I'm sure there is a search button you can add to screens, never used it so not sure of the functionality. Somebody on here will have done something similar and may be able to shed some light. If you're looking at storing a lot of words and definitions you may end up looking at database on your server and with some nice code you'll have a searchable / query driven app. If this answer seems vague, apologies, I'm at work and supposed to be doing other things!
