Video goes black on 1.5

Hi everyone, I've tried to insert a streaming video, 1 via a URL and also by adding it to the BT_video folder, and both times the video does not open and the screen goes black..any thoughts? Thanks!

Hi in Chicago... Have a look at the output console in Xcode when the app is running. We went through great pains to list all sorts of useful output to try help when things don't go as planned. Search the output (command f) for the name of your video. The console should show where it's looking for the file. Locally in the xcode project, from a URL, etc. This should give you some clues as to what may be going on. If not, re-post what you learned?

Hi David, thank you for the reply, I did what you said and found this: BT_fileManager: File does exist in Xcode bundle: trailer-v1-web.mov I find that odd because the video file is clearly in the BT_video folder...any advice?

OK cool. So, can't be too tough. It sounds like the file is not the issues. Can you get any videos to play? iOS is usually really good at playing videos (Android not so much) so I'm wondering if the screen is even loading. When you tap a button or menu item to play a video the console will show something like 'loading screen' or something useful. Maybe launch the app, then navigate to the manu that has the 'play video' button. At this point, just before you click the button to play the video, clear the console. This way the output is blank. Next, click the button. The console will show all sorts of stuff but everything it shows will be related to that one button click. Hope this make sense. Buttons and menu items that load streaming video work a little different than other screen in that there is not 'buzztouch screen' that loads to play a video, iOS handles all of this. In english: ' Hey iOS, play this video' and it kinda takes over from there. Lets see what the console reads when you tap the button to start your video. Oh, one last thing, could it be that you have a streaming video screen set as a home-screen on a tab? This won't work. Tab home screens don't play nicely with streaming video because there is no 'tap event' to play the video. Make sense?

a) What kind of device is this? iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch. What iOS version is it running. b) Did you tap the button three times? I'm asking this because it reads 'menuItemTap' several times in this output. That seems strange.

Iphone 4.3.2 Nope, only tapped it twice, heres the odd thing... When I tap it once, it refreshes the videos page, then I tap it again, and the screen goes black, like something is loading but no loading symbol. BUT when I tap it twice, it refreshes the videos screen, then I tap twice again and it refreshes the videos screen again and again and again... What do you think?

Sounds funky, not sure what to think. Lets do this...with your permission, I can download the app and test it on this end. I don't have your video but do have a test video. This means I'll be dong this to figure it out. a) Changing the file name in your control panel to testMovie.mov b) Downloading you project source-code c) Dragging testMovie.mov into the project (just like you're doing with your movie) d) Compiling and testing. If all goes well, I'll have a solution and then re-set the movie file in your control panel to your movie's file name. If this is OK, kindly post the name of the app, exactly as it appears in your control panel ;-)

OK, good test. I was able to play a movie and I'm convinced 100% that there is something wrong with the actual .mov movie file. I'm not sure what it could be and I've NEVER seen iOS not play a quictime (.mov) file. a) Check your email and save the attached movie I sent you to your desktop b) Open your project in Xcode c) Drag the movie from your desktop over the BT_Videos folder in Xcode d) Re-compile e) tap movie button. Does it play? Bet it does, did hear on several different devices. If this works, your movie is somehow causing the issues. Have zero idea why? See if the one I sent plays.

David, thank you I just tested it and it worked. Not sure why the video wasnt working, maybe the H.264 compression, or who knows, I will have to run some tests to figure this out. I really really appreciate you looking into this! thank you again!
