[Quick Tip] How to upload your files for FREE (Images, HTML Files, etc)

BuzzTouch uses a lot of remote locations (Example: loading an image on a website, loading a .html file on your website). The problem is finding a host for these files. For example: I was making an app with funny images. I needed a host to upload these funny images so I could place them in my app, as if I placed them in the app itself (in BT_Images) then the App would be over 100MB in size. I tried a free host, but everything was limited. I needed more bandwidth. I finally found a FREE solution: Dropbox. I'm sure many of you have heard about DropBox. It allows you to upload files and keep your files in sync with all PCs. In dropbox, you have a Public Folder. This folder allows you to upload files, and get a public link. I uploaded all my funny images to this folder, and DropBox game me a link to every one. I placed this link in the Image Gallery (I had to do every image, which was a pain) and everything worked out fine. Signup here: http://db.tt/gx6mqVf (This is my ref link, which costs you nothing to signup using but gives me 250MB of space for free. If you want to just signup on your own, you can do so at dropbox.com) Some notes I should mention: -Free Accounts have 2GB of free storage. This is well enough for all your .html files and images. -Free accounts can use up to 10GB of bandwidth per day, paid accounts can use 250GB per day. 10GB is more than enough for nearly anyone. -SIgning up for a free account costs you nothing. -Dropbox is hosted on Amazon's Simple file sharing service, and I have NEVER seen it go down (and I've been using it since it was in beta!). -.php files DO NOT WORK, .html do! -You can not host your own site on Dropbox (ex: www.yoursite.com) Any questions? Comments? Suggestions? Feel free to post them below!

Excellent tip, indeed! I would happily use your referral link to sign up to dropbox but I already got an account there.

Agree with Piotr, I also already have an account otherwise I would use your referral link.. anyway I have a question: how can you make your files public? I know how to share a folder with specific email contacts, but no idea about how to make it public to everyone.. so far I used mobileme to do that.. Thanks,

I've been hosting my header files and all the content in my apps on BuzzTouch for the past few days. I've had a 100% uptime, and speeds are great. DropBox makes a great CDN. @claudio Glad you found it! @Piotr Thanks, I don't really need the extra 250MB of space anyways. 2GB is enough for me. The only reason I would upgrade is to go from 10GB of bandwidth per day to 250GB. @David Thanks for your input! Also, I'm sorry for stealing your way of replying to posts :P it works pretty well!
