Ubuntu

Hi, i'm about to make small app, but at the end, i don't have a Mac. Any other solution just to make final step creating ( Xcode ) this app under Ubuntu or even Micro$oft Win? Regards...

In a word, nope! Apple are going to need you to compile and submit, first via xcode then app uploader. xcode really isn't just the final step, you're going to be using it for dev and testing etc etc.... Unless someone out there knows otherwise.

I want to make an Tv App ( similar as Ustream tv app ), so i can watch my fav's live tv chann from my subsc. tv compan. So idea is to make an icons for every chann and also add sub-menu for each channel with tv schedule... So, instead of going on web page http://89.212.47.123:8080/iphone/channels and get chann, i want them under small app.. Tnx and Regards...

I run on Linux & then switch to virtual machine Windows to code Android in eclipse, but also download the Xcode source code & send to guy in Phoenix who compiles & uploads to my apple dev account, very good, very quick & only charges $25 per app - he's on this forum, he's posted his services a few times .. ..edit: currently creating v1.4 apps for both as I cant see any changes made for ios v1.5 until android version comes out

Both xcode 3 and 4 will work. 3 is free, 4 is $5 on the Mac App Store (Or free if you have a developer account) Keep in mind you'll have to have a developer account ($99/year) to actually put the app on your device from xcode.

Actually a good question but I'd go for latest. Latest build, v1.5. All good etc. I'm sure (hopefully someone can confirm this) but I think 4 is somehow better at being backward compatible. As a we'd aside, what virtualization tools you using? Use Fusion myself, 3 yrs and love it!

You need a developer account to be able to download a certificate and a provisioning profile, even if the app is for personal use. You can only run apps in the simulator otherwise.

Yeah, Jenny is right, if you plan on doing more than app (and even if you aren't) getting the Dev account set up now would be a good idea. Not the en of the world if you don't though.

By VM Platform I just meant what are you using to manage your VMs? If you don't plan on taking this 'public' there are ways around things, is your phone jailbroken? If so you can do some spoofing and have the app on your own iPhone without the need or a dev account. Not going to go into that here though. Did it back in the day and while there is a wee bit of a process you can circumnavigate the need for dev accounts.

I was just asking about the VM thing out of curiosity. Virtual PC, VMWare, Virtual Box etc.... Time to update that 3.1.3, you can still maintain your JB if you upgrade. Not 100% if 3.x is available under the build menu or not, sorry. Not on laptop so can't check.

No idea, sorry. Time to hit the old Google I fear. Try searching on www.RedmondPie.com a lot of firmware and JB stuff on there. Off to do what pays the bills now.

3.1.3 is the max you can go on first generation devices. You cannot install anything higher, nor 2nd gen firmwares.
