Newbie! Iphone app loads iPad in simulator with content missing

GDay! First day here (very excited) Ok, so I created VERY rough test app to show a link to a you tube vid, plus email and twitter contact. Thats it When I compile in xcode3, all I get in the sim is a white screen saying First View. Loaded by the first view controller - an instance of FirstViewController - specified in the View Controller Attributes in the Main Window nib file Have no idea what that means, and dont know why my app contents is missing (plus I coded for iphone template, and sim loads ipad version. Any help would greatly help this newbie Many Thanks - Terence

Ok, I worked out how to switch sim views in xcode (duh!) and why my app content is missing (was clicking on wrong file to open) However now Im getting Build error saying There is no SDK with the name or path 'iphoneos4.2 Does buzztouch only work with xcode 4?

Welcome from Tasmania, very cool! So, it sounds like you're well on the way..good stuff. a) Xcode, Compiling: The idea here is that there are lots of different types of things you can compile with Xcode, iOS apps are one thing. Because of this, it's sometimes necessary to make some adjustments in the settings in Xcode before compiling your app. Things like what iOS version your targeting, what iOS version are you hoping to support, etc. If you have not already don it, have a look at few of the Xcode videos in your control panel, it will make sense soon enough. b) Mystery files, additional code: The source-code you download from your control panel includes necessary components for features you may not be using. Example: You're app may not have a map screen setup in the online control panel, or a quiz, but the app's project will include source-code to support these types of screens. If you later return to your control panel, add a map, then 'refresh' the app, the map will work. This approach allows for maximum flexibility. Hope this helps.

We have a bit of bet going on in the office. Without looking at the map, we all guessed where Tasmania may be. Where the hell is it! LOL Glad you got some understanding...it'll all make sense sooner or later ;-)

Hehe... Tasmania is indeed part of AUSTRALIA... :) Find Victoria on your map, and look south. We are the little bit of an island that is part of Australia. Actually, there are quite a few of App Devs from Tassie :) Cheers Terence
