1st Android App Test Request

I am currently trying to produce my first ever app and have to say a massive thankyou to Buzztouch what a fantastic site and fantastic support available in this forum. I am producing an app for The Retired Greyhound Trust to promote retired greyhounds as pets and show what fantastic pets they make after their racing lives are over(3 - 4yrs old). It would be really appriciated if someone / a few people could download my app to test on different devices, I have currently tested on the AVD emulator and on my HTC Desire HD but would like a wider test before i continue. my app is downloadable from Mediafire - www.mediafire.com/?pa772ae2rs16va7 The gallery is not ready and the pictures currently in there are not the ones that will be displayed they are just for current test purposes. Any suggestions on how i could improve it or ideas for added features would be greatly appriciated as would and constructive critisism. Many Thanks Adam

Just downloaded via MediaFire & have re-uploaded to my own server so that others can direct download to their devices here: http://bit.ly/lTYpBE Downloads & installs fine Like the page logo & redesigned arrow buttons on the main screen Gallery doesn't work, not seeing any pictures (what setup are you using for the gallery?) Videos work OK FAQs page doesnt load, just a blank screen 'Call Us' works Should be good when finished Good luck :-)

@ Adzmarriott: Thanks for the kind words, good stuff! Get this, I read your post and thought you were making an app about retired greyhounds, the busses, not the dogs. As silly as this sounds, my wife and I really enjoy 'kicking the tires' on old busses and I thought, ' no way, a guy's using our software to build the best database out their of cool old busses!' Sooooo funny when I learned it was dogs. What a riot. I'll get your app on a few devices when I get to the office tomorrow and post some comments. Welcome aboard.

Thankyou both so much i really appriciate your help. @steveh6883: I am currently using a custom url linking to the gallery / slideshow of my Flickr account , i have a API key for Flickr and tried linking it via a custom url following the instructions on the forum but just got pages of code as per - http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=2165A75BA828FA14BD77638&status=&searchInput=search...&sortColumn=FT.dateStampUTC&sortUpDown=DESC¤tPage=1&doViews=1 Would you have any idea on how to correct this or perhaps an idea on a better way to show a gallery of pictures ? Thankyou again for your help and uploading on your server really appriciated ! @david book: that is hilarious your not the first person to make that mistake, i actually bought a book on ''The story of the greyhound'' from ebay and it turned out to be the busses not the dogs. i look forward to reading your comments and advice later.

@ Adzmarriott: Good stuff, neat to review apps that serve a good purpose. I tested the app on two different devices. A Motorola Droid (Android 1.6, old school) and a Motorola Droid X (Android 2.2), both installed and launched fine. Constructive Criticism: a) The menu options are a bit confusing when they load screens with different titles. Example: Dispelling the Myth's leads to FAQ's. Why not show FAQ's in the menu? It's usually best to use menu titles that match screen titles so when users go back-n-foward they know what screen they are on. b) Image Gallery: If you can avoid Flash it's usually best too try. Flash is not on as many devices as you may expect and relying on it to deliver images is risky. the image gallery is nice looking but could be lightened up a bit using either simple HTML pages or a menu with images. It's not the same effect I realize but far more devices don't have flash than do. Controversial topic I realize (Flash). You've done good, especially for a first attempt. There isn't anything glaring or bogus that would prevent your app from serviing it's purpose, well done.

@David Book: Thanks for your advice am going to change the menu items to match the screen tites as i can see how this would be confusing. Will there be a gallery option within v1.5 as i am struggling to make the gallery presentable at the moment and would like the user to click gallery and then be able to scroll / browse the images. The only menu option i can currently find is single image and thought this would require the user to go back and forth to view the next image ? Your help and advice is really appriciated.

The v1.5 gallery works awesome! That, and tons of other things related to how the app is layed out is a primary reason for the delays in the Android version of v1.5. We underestimated some complexities in getting v1.5 done for Android but for sure it will have a gallery and the other neat stuff available like they are in the iOS version. I see your on the Early Adopeter list...maybe have a look at the v1.5 screens and features, the same control panel will be used for your Android version. Thats the whole idea, one control panel, you choose what mobile device to use.
