Hi, I am getting an error that the word doc. format i am using is invalid. I've tried both doc and docx and neither of them work. I am trying to make an update in v1.4. Please help.

Hmm... email the doc to info 'at' buzzztouch.com, include what App and Menu item you're trying to add. We'll add it here.

Ok, lets start over then. We havn't heard about any troubles with the Word Doc uploader screen. This doesn't mean there isn't somethign wrong with it! LOL. Have you been able to upload Word Docs in the past? I ask because that screen in the control panel hasn't been changed in a very long time. I just looked at the backend for that screen, it validates that you're uploading a document with a MIME type of: application/vnd.ms-word or application/msword. The MIME type is sent by the browser and should be one of those types for Word Docs. It must not be in this case. I've added some information to the error message the screen shows when it thinks you're sending the wrong document type. Upload another one, copy-n-paste the message to your clipboard then post it here. I'm interested to see what type of MIME your browser is sending for this document type. We can't accept all type on all screens so I'll need to add whatever yours is to the approved-list.

Tried again and here is the messgae. Only .DOC or .DOCX (Microsoft Word) files are allowed. This message means you tried to upload a file that was not an acceptable format. The accepted document types are application/vnd.ms-word OR application/msword and you uploaded a document with the type: APPLICATION/VND.OPENXMLFORMATS-OFFICEDOCUMENT.WORDPROCESSINGML.DOCUMENT I am emailing you the file to take a look. I've never tried uploading a document in a 1.4 app, so i have nothing to reference against.

Got it. Makes perfect sense. I've added it to the list of available types, you could try again. Bet the upload works. Details: I'm thinking the doc. has the proper file extension (.doc or .docx) but was saved in the latest MS Word Format. Alternatively, you may have had some success openign the doc, then re-saving as MS Word < 2007 (older version). Because you have lots of docs this is probably not a good idea ;-)

No Good. Tried a doc.x and it did not upload. Tried a 97-2003 doc and it works.

Ah...good to know. So it is the different MIME type. Did it show you this again?: APPLICATION/VND.OPENXMLFORMATS-OFFICEDOCUMENT.WORDPROCESSINGML.DOCUMENT It's looking for EXACTLY that in the file upload MIME type now (along with the older already allowed types). It's not case senstive but must be exactly that. The message you get is showing you what it's not-liking. Could your copy-paste have missed any characters? I'll upload later, havn't yet uploaded your test yet. Will soon. On phone ;-)

OK, good, yet another MIME type. Funny. It's a combination of browser, document, save-as-type, and windows. I've added that one. I also tested you attachment on a different app. From my mac it DID upload succesfully. I don't have a windows machine to test on today so you'll have to keep testing with each MIME type add. I just added: APPLICATION/OCTET-STREAM Test again plz.

Ok, So here it is. It now uploads my document but does not shot my text. The word document background color is black and my text is white. It seems as if the screen background is also white that is why my text is not showing. Can i not do it as a black word document with white text. I know in 1.5 if i make the background clear in the settings it shows up as i want. Please advise.

The plot thickens. So, the control panel and backend does not tranform or change the document at all, it just stores it. The phone downloads is and displays it in a web-view. This means if it's not showing properly something about the way it's authored is not playing nice with iOS. I'm not an MS Office guy so I can't really speak to the best way to author Word Docs for iOS. It does seem strange though that an older Word Doc (saved as earlier version) shows in iOS but newer versions do not? Bummer. I guess you could to a little Google digging and see if others have experienced issues displaying newer Word Docs in iOS.
