Got it...audio player doesn't like spaces in the .mp3 name edit: still having trouble with some mp3 songs loaded into xcode...is there something else i'm missing as far as naming each mp3? only one song is playing...all the others set up the same in same folder in xcode...hmmm? each song is about 3.5M 128kbitrate

hmmm... shouldn't be the file type, bitrate, etc. If one plays, they all should play. Maybe you've found a weird bug related to how the screens are arranged and the relationship to the player? App name?

I don't see anything mysterious about the way you set this up. I don't have the actual .mp3's (they are not URL based, you have them) so I couldn't test literally. Maybe there is something funky about the files. I'm guessing you can play them outside of the project, like with Quicktime or iTunes. Maybe try deleting them from the project altogether then re-importing them? Have no idea really, kinda grasping here. Thinking maybe Xcode freaked out when they had the spaces in the names? Not sure. Whats the console read? Is it still looking for the old file names that don't exist?

got it!! i had to rename the files in xcode even though they were the same name...it wasn't recognizing the names just importing the files to xcode, had to actually rename to same name including writing .mp3 again....working great now...cheers!! ps. is there a way to play all songs? without having to make one big file? or is a play next song button my best bet? thanks

In thinking, I wonder if a 'Clean All Targets' would have cleared up Xcode? Hmm.. Play Next button is as good as you'll get today. I've been digging around to try to find a way to unzip an archive. If I can get this figured out I can then add the 'Album Screen' The idea here is that you create a zip with songs and artwork and place at a URL or in the Xcode project. Next, the screen you create the album screen I've been tinkering with, pulls the data from the archive and magically works. This will allow the app to download ONE file instead of tons of them. I can think of all kinds of cool ways to auto-play, add song to shopping cart (yup!) and other goodies. Damn zip folders are tough in iOS!

wow! sounds cool...the new audio player is sweet...u da man!! the next button works fine although when hitting back it would be cool if the song that you click back to would start from beginning instead of where it left off..still super cool though! regarding mp3 file names, even on first build i had to rename the files after downloading source code again, would a clean all targets have mattered at that point?

Problably not. Maybe though. The simulator doesn't know if you have downloaded your project 1 time or 20 times. THe project always has the same 'name' and as far as the sim. goes it's the same thing. When you build it, it creates some files on your computer. If the files already exist (some misc. build related files) they are not recreated. This means the app may have been re-downloaded from your control panel but it's the same app as far as Xcode is concerned. Anyway, Clean and Build removes lots of this stuff and I thought it may have helped. Who knows. I have shortcut on my desktop / finder to the simulators app directory. Instead of removing apps on from the simulator by holding the icon and using the jiggling' x, I just delete each app's folder in the simulator directory. Hope I''m not losing you. Emptying this folder enusres that nothing is left behind so when I re-download an app it's 'new' as far as xcode is concerened. My sim keeps everything here: /Users/davidbook/Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/4.2 Have a look through your's when you build-n-run on the sim, you'll see a new folder get created (with subfolders) for each app on the sim.

yeah i was deleting all traces of the app from the simulator, that's why it was so weird, until i renamed those files they wouldn't load.....working now though!

the next button works fine although when hitting back it would be cool if the song that you click back to would start from beginning and automatically play, instead of where it left off then hit play..still super cool though! AND another thing that would be cool is if in the image gallery each image could have it's own audio track, swipe is so cool if audio could follow along?...boy give me an inch!! by the way i did NOT enjoy the Bitwise section of my objective-c studies ha!, enjoying the rest so far though!! thanks David

So my app got rejected cause they said it was just a book and has to go in ibookstore...was hoping to add audio later...really would rather it be in the app store...if there was a way to use image gallery and have seperate audio file for each image it would pass...is this a possibility? thanks!

Hmm...that sucks. I didn't realize 'only book' apps are not allowed in App Store. So...anyway to spruce it up a bit, make it a non-book app until they approve it? Then, you could remove some stuff? Idea: Add a few maps, a quiz, some neat fun, along with the book chapters. Then, remove this stuff later in your control panel. Sneaky sneaky. I've been pondering your audio ideas cuz' they make perfect sense. Not sure of an EASY way to add an audio file for each image. If the Custom HTML screens allowed swiping to page this would work. I started working out a page-swiper thing for 'any screen' to allow you to do this but it got out of hand and never got done. Android is killing us on time and were hard-core trying to get that done. Hmmm..not sure what to think. I guess maybe spice it up, re-submit, get it approved. Remove the icing you added for approval. Then, imagine adding audio and other stuff as we get them done?

Yup, I'm adding a name that fuit & veggie quiz, some original children songs, some corny jokes, ...actually it's coming out great!! Don't slow down on Android....this is actually working out for the best, the book is becoming very interactive...gonna resubmit within few hours...thanks & cheers!!
