Maps (New Topic for me)

I was wondering if there is a way to get the maps to show the location of the user while on a hiking trail. What happens now is that I just get a map of the trail that's been tracked. If I want to see where I am on the trail I have to exit my map in the app. Open Maps on my Droid X, then it shows exactly where I am on the trail from the satellite view. I'm using version 1.4. This would be a handy feature for those of us who get lost in the wilderness from time to time. ;-) (everything is a metaphor for app building these days) Is this something that could be added to my app by a programmer or is this not possible at all with google maps and v1.4? Thanks, Bruce

Hey Trailman, If you know any programmers out your way ArcGIS might be a good solution to try and integrate somehow. http://resources.arcgis.com/content/arcgis-android/api http://resources.arcgis.com/content/arcgis-iphone/api I had thought about something along those same lines but geared toward trekkers in the Himalayas. My next project when I have time.
