Need Advice on building a checklist App

We are trying to build a procedural checklist for our field people. This could be relatively straightforward as a website, but our people are often in areas with poor or no phone coverage. Buzztouch seems to offer a good solution. We are completely new to iPhone Apps. Android App may follow. The checklist is just that. We have 12 different checklists each consists of 8 sections with 6-8 items (a few sentences) that need to be checked off. The App needs to show that the items have been checked and hold it over a few days until the project is done. The App could then be reset for the next project. We do not need any long term retention. Is a form the way to do this? Is there a better way? Any advice is appreciated.

Hi in Raleigh: I can think of several ways to do this. All of them are complex. However, the level of complexity, and the best approach depends on your skill level. The toughest part of these types of apps is persisting the data. In other words, what happens when the items are checked? The users selections have to be stored somewhere and most of our users lose-interest at that point because there 'content management app' turns into 'database, data storage app' and they don't quite understand how to make it all work. It would be less complex if you could wire up some simple HTML forms to your backend but that would require an internet connection to save the data (persist) when the user was done selecting things. I think you'll be best making a v1.5 app with a few menu options leading to 'blank' screens (use HTML). Next, find a developer to help you add the logic to these simple palceholder screens you make. The developer will end up making a few classes, some database stuff to save the data, and some connections. Becuase you started with a working app you'll have less trouble adding the functions. Just an idea? For sure it will take some programming.

Thanks for the help. Sounds more complicated than we first thought, but we will investigate.

Does anyone know of a developer that can do this. I need the same thing. A checklist oriented app where the data is stored on the actual phone.

Welcome in Atlanta ;-) Try entering the word 'submit' (no quotes) in the forum search box. There are a few folks that are willing to submit apps, they may be able to help you with some customization too?
