Repackage Rebrand Apps?

Is it possible to repackage an app. I have a ton of content that I could sell to a local hotel (or retail store) by rebranding my app with their name on the app. They could give it away to guests or sell it through a concierge or sales person. Use a QR code and they're good to go. I keep track of all the downloads and charge the client for each download minus their cut. Is this a feasible idea? Can I duplicate the content I created on Buzztouch, change a few logos, pictures, maps and videos give it a new name? Or does apple and google go through this stuff with a fine tooth comb? This seems like a good idea but can it be done? Thanks, Bruce

Lots of spins of this concept for sure. There are lots and lots of folks that have hundreds of apps in your control panel and are selling them for sure. We havn't made this easy and hope to allow you to easily duplicate apps in the future but folks are doing it anyway. I guess it's work it ;-) Selling app creating services professionally can be profitable but it is more work than it may appear to be on the surface. It all depends on how demanding your clients are.

There's a local hike shop here that could sell the heck out of our next hiking app but since there's no alternatives to the app stores (that I can find) this is the only way to sell the app. This is how apple sells the ipad, by having them all over their retail stores. People need to get their hands on these apps, learn them from a retailer a bit. Then take them out on the trail. There's going to come a point where there's so many apps (App store search functions suck already, type in Sedona and the first thing that comes up is a Porn star name suggestions app!) without great seo or app marketing one could easily get lost in the shuffle. I realize at this point there's a bunch of copying and pasting but I think it might be worth it to take a day or 2 and do the work. Thanks for the info.

Another thought. Yes, the App Store (and App Market) are indeed getting flooded and search and discovery is a huge problem already. This is exactly why app's and sites like GetJar (getjar.com) are taking off in a big time way. There are dozens of 'discovery apps' and sites on the market and all of them are better than Apple or Google! The best app devs team up with folks like you mention for marketing. Retails, other sites, famous people, etc. Marketing is marketing.
