Fine /GPS location API needed?

Hi All I have my Android BT v1.4 App on ANdroid Marketplace no problem, have submittied to Amazon Appstore and they have rejected for the following reason:
Unfortunately it failed our testing procedures due to the following reason(s): Your app has failed a Security test case. Your app requires API permissions that it does not appear to use to function (the fine/GPS location API) Please contact us through the developer portal if you believe this is necessary for the functionality of your app. If not, please remove it before resubmitting. Please correct the issue(s) we found with your app submission. After you have made the updates, you may re-submit a new version of the app
As I see it I have a couple of options; 1. Add something with mapping to actually use the GPS (not really needed on this app) 2. Remove the permission references for fine/gps api (will this 'break' the buzztouch app itself) Also, as far as I am aware, the Amazon review and approval process is very similar (if not the same) as Apple's & as I am having this particular app compiled for iPhone also would it be best for me to fix this prior to submission from Apple? Thanks in advance for any help

If you aren't using the GPS feature, it is not needed and removing it will not break the app. You will not get the mapping feature of users locations but that isn't all that important to most, I feel.

Thanks for that, do I just remove the permission reference from the manifest? <uses-permission android:name=android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION /> Or is there something else I need to remove? Thanks

Hi gang...back from a few days M.I.A. So...there are a few ways to look at this and it does make sense from Amazon's perspective. Like Apple, they are sometimes mysterious when instructing developers what exactly to do! For sure start by removing the uses permission flag in the manifest. You can remove it altogether or simply comment it out. If you have not changed any of the maps code, in other words, you're not using maps, you should be OK. If you made the adjustments explained in the README.txt file to enable google maps, you won't be able to remove the permission entry in the manifest. But then again, you should have no problems with Amazon if you are using maps. Comment this out, re-compile, re-submit: <uses-permission android:name=android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION />
