Android SDK

I've downloaded everything I need to, to compile the app I've made, but every time I run the SDK Managed I have to spend 6hours downloading a mass of things I'd already downloaded and still no closer to compiling it.. I have followed the instructions word for word and still not working.. I mean what the hell!

Yeah, sounds bogus for sure. You're missing something, not sure what it is, but surely you are. I'm a bit confused with 'very time I run the SDK Managed I have to spend 6hours downloading a mass of things' - somethings not adding up - obviously. Have you got an android app to compile at all, like the test app explained in the video? For sure you'll need to get your machine compiling the most basic android app before even worrying about your buzztouch app.

I also spent about 6 hrs trying to figure it out. Here's a link for android sdk installation that I found very helpful and got me up and running. Hope it helps. http://www.talkandroid.com/android-sdk-install-guide/

@David; Nothing, as soon as I open anything it starts the download process again, just seems to be an endless cycle.. It did take several attempts to just install the JDK Download so maybe that thinking about it.. @Adrain; Thanks, I'll check it out

I've downloaded Eclipse too as going by the how it works page it sounded so much easier, and end then I don't have the 'Run as Android Project option.. So still can't compile it or test it..

Alex, Here are the instructions that I used to install ADT Android Eclipse Plugin (ADT) If you choose to use the Eclipse IDE as your Android development environment you will have the opportunity to install and run a plug-in called Android Development Tools. ADT comes with a variety of powerful tools and extensions that will make creating, running and debugging your Android applications much easier and faster. In order to download and install ADT you will first need to configure an Eclipse remote update, this can achieved via the following steps: Start Eclipse, then select Help > Software Updates > Find and Install…. In the dialog that appears, select Search for new features to install and press Next. Press New Remote Site. In the resulting dialog box, enter a name for the remote site (e.g. Android Plugin) and enter this as its URL: https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/. Press OK. You should now see the new site added to the search list (and checked). Press Finish. In the subsequent Search Results dialog box, select the checkbox for Android Plugin > Eclipse Integration > Android Development Tools and press Next. Read the license agreement and then select Accept terms of the license agreement, if appropriate. Press Next. Press Finish. The ADT plugin is not signed; you can accept the installation anyway by pressing Install All. Restart Eclipse. After restart, update your Eclipse preferences to point to the SDK root directory ($SDK_ROOT): Select Window > Preferences… to open the Preferences panel. (Mac OS X: Eclipse > Preferences) Select Android from the left panel. For the SDK Location in the main panel, press Browse... and find the SDK root directory. Press Apply, then OK My root on a mac looks something like this: I have Eclipse in my application directory. /Applications/android-sdk-mac_x86

Followed it, and it all worked to the point of it actually being able to run the app.. Still doesn't do anything, I can run the emulator separate but it crashes

In Eclipse go to window, in window menu do you see android adk and avd manger? If you do click on it and the android adk and avd manager should come up. click available packages. Pick the Google API pack you want to use.
