Yes I'd like to have it. If you want to I have a WebEx account that will support 25 attendees and we can record the session from your screen. I can send you a copy of the recording but also keep it online. Sometimes a live session is easier to put together than a written tutorial since you can talk and show on the screen.

Everest11, If you haven't already, could you share your solution with David? Perhaps they can use your methods to create a simple alteration to the BT offering and incorporate it into the control panel for those less code inclined.

Excellent idea. Push notifications are something that (excuse me) appmkr does as way to make money. But I did find a third party Called xtify.com that can be plugged into an app and is location based. Free for the first 300 push notifications. Not sure how other notification services work.

@erichopf...I will. I am sure they could integrate the service I am using or any other service including one of their own if they wanted. They have done a superb job with what they have here. @bobology...What I will probably do is a Ustream and something in written form. As far as APN services Urban Airship & Xtify are the most expensive. Urban Airship has a nice, easy to use backend. Xtify needs improvement as I found it unwieldy to use. I am using a beta service called Appoxee which is free. It has a more user friendly backend than the others. The SDK documentation is not so clear but with their help I was able to get things going really quickly. The longest part of the process is just getting the development and production certs created and the service turned on in the app @ the Developer Portal.

@everest11 Sounds like you've done your research. I suspect that each service requires a unique implementation in the code but if BT does something for integrating any service it would be nice to have a choice of at least two. Look forward to your write-up.

Whooo hooo, awesome post. Here's our plan, and our perspective. Push Notifications are not as complicated as most folks think. In our opinion, other services like ours try to capitalize on the idea that people don't understand how it works. It's not rocket science. Our implementation isn't too far out but as you all realize, we're struggling to keep up with some tremendous growth and dev. time has been tough lately. Anyway, our idea is to allow folks to use our PNS server for free with some limitations, or their own without any limitations. The idea is that almost eveyone interested in PNS is already running a website and as such could easily be handling their own push notifications if we help them get it configured. A few scripts is all it should take. So, we're hoping to provide a few files to plop on your server that would handle this. @ Everest11 offer it tremendous and will certainly speed this along! I'm a little quite today and tomorrow, camping with teenagers. Sitting by fire (literally) with the MiFi going - almost out of juice!

Any updates of buzztouch implementing Appoxee? Is Appoxee coming back, or abandoned?

Works fine for me, but looking at other services that support Android as well...Appoxee has not responded to any of my emails in the last month :(
