Uploading .png

Every time I upload a jpeg for the icon or the front image they are very bad quality, and it doesn't let me upload .png. .png is higher quality and would be useful if you guys made it so it would allow us to do that.

Yes, we realize this. There are a few technical reasons we don't allow .PNG uploads. It's surpirsing that the quality is 'very bad' after you upload. What happens when you do this: a) Open your .png in an image editor. Size the image to the right size. 57 x 57 for icon, 300 x 150 for header image. b) Export it as .jpg. c) Open the jpeg image in your favorite image viewer on your computer. Is the image of good quality? I'm asking because the control panel does not change the quality of your upload. It does resize it if needed but does not reduce it's quality intentionally. d) Upload your image. Maybe I'm not understanding your question? Tens of thousands of these uploads have done and we've heard the 'quality' question only a few times so I'm trying to figure out what's different about what you may be doing ;-)
