Did you need to get permission to include the booklet PDF in your app? I didn't see any ads though. Worked well on my 1st gen iPad, although it took a while to load and came up blank the first time. I didn't get this problem is I accessed the quiz from a link or button within the main screen area. must be a bug with the bottom bar, as I got it with something other than the quiz too....so I scrapped it for now.
