Custom HTML - Somethings not right... (iOS 1.5)

I keep changing HTML, even really basic code (i.e Background colour). All I am constantly presented with is 'There was a problem parsing some configuration data. Please make sure it is well-formed.' It seems no matter what changes I make on the editor, it never works. I literally have 3 paragraphs of text with Bold headings and a coloured background and it just will not work. Really starting to get annoyed lol. I made the Custom HTML page weeks ago and I found a spelling mistake today, so I changed 2 letters in a block of text and from then on I am just presented with the error code. Please help before I go insane :/

This is the extent of the non-working code... Straight from the editor (I have tried with and without the very first line of code <!DOC... No changes). <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC -//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd> <html> <head> <title></title> </head> <body bgcolor=#996699> <p> <span style=font-size: 36px;><span style=font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;><strong>School Times</strong></span></span></p> <p> <span style=font-size: 36px;><span style=font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;>Morning - 8.55am - noon<br /> Afternoon - 1.00pm - 3.15pm<br /> Children may enter classrooms from 8.45am onwards.</span></span></p> <p> <span style=font-size: 36px;><span style=font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;><strong>Uniform</strong></span></span></p> <p> <span style=font-size: 36px;><span style=font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;>We do expect children to attend school in uniform. Sweatshirts or polo shirts with the school logo on are available from the school office, as are baseball caps, school bags and PE tops.<br /> Girls - Grey pinafore fress or grey skirt<br /> Black or grey leggings or trousers<br /> White/gold blouse or polo shirt<br /> Purple sweatshirt<br /> White or black tights<br /> White or grey socks<br /> Sensible school type shoes, no heels or platforms<br /> Purple and white checked summer dress or gold pique dress</span></span></p> <p> <span style=font-size: 36px;><span style=font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;>Boys - Grey Trousers<br /> White/gold shirt or plol shirt<br /> Purple sweatshirt<br /> Grey, black or white socks<br /> Sensible school type shoes</span></span></p> <p> <span style=font-size: 36px;><span style=font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;><strong>P.E.</strong></span></span></p> <p> <span style=font-size: 36px;><span style=font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;>Your child will need plimsolls, a round-necked T shirt (preferably in your child's house colours of red, green, blue or yellow) and a pair of plain black shorts.</span></span></p> </body> </html>

When do you see this message: 'There was a problem parsing some configuration data. Please make sure it is well-formed.' When you launch the app or when the Screen with the HTML loads? I'm not convinced yet that the message has anything to do with the HTML ;-)

I too have had those errors and it was when the screen was loaded. But now it seem to work. /Stefan

other than fress instead of dress :-) I see no errors. I checked in dreamweaver, and added it temporarily to a page on an app I'm working on and it saved without problem or error message. I'm using (Custom HTML - Text) and buzztouch 1.5

It may not be a solution you are looking for, (don't want to be one of those not actually answering the question), but I personally prefer using a html document and add it in xcode. I've never ever had a problem with this. Even though these two screens are practically the same, it seems to me that more people are having issues with the custom html screen : )

My Custom HTML/Text keeps disappearing. Yes, I saved it. It was on my device - then, poof - off into never, never land. . .

Mine too, just now. Luckily I make it up in dreamweaver then paste into buzztouch so I just needed to paste it back in. Phew.

I had some trouble with this also. But I left it alone for the time being.

I have more and more come to @captainash conclusion. This gives me the best control over styling, document behavior, pictures etc, but also will keep part of the app not depending on the availability to a net connection.

@Stefan. True, though it's a bit of a pain creating the folders in Xcode, unless there's a shortcut I'm not aware of. Still, the result may be worth the time and effort. We are back to the parsing error on the Custom HTML/Text page today, or so it seems.

Still looking into this. Did I mention that online editors are a pain! LOL. We'll find it.
