How to make illustraed book into an app?

OK, so I am lost, and of course buzztouch offers zero phone support, which is horrible. Maybe someone can help me. I have a illustrated book, trying to make into an app. I've saved every page as a PDF. I made a icon, and title page. Next it wants menus. What does here? All I want to do is have my book LOOK like a book. If I load each page seperately, then the user has to keep going back to the start to select a new page. Plus each PDF is 7.5 MB, and this website times out and says the files are too large. My original files are all .PSD in photoshop. Any suggestions?

You can do it many many ways. I did an ebook using BT and just separated the chapters into individual files and created menu items and screens for them or you can load the whole PDF into one screen. Also, you do not have to upload the PDF here. You can embed it into the Xcode project.

Totally, I don't know how far down the developmental pipeline it is, but there are plans to create this capability into BT. Perhaps if David gets a min free, haha, he can chime in.

Everest11: like I said, I can NOT upload any PDF on the BT site. It times me out and says the file is too big. And each one is only 7 MB. Do you have a link to your book app? I'd like to see how it works then maybe I can think this through. You said You can embed it into the xcode project. That is chinese to me. HOW? thank you...

TC, Everest didn't say to upload it here and I believe he was speaking about using version 1.5 apps with BuzzTouch. What version of BT you are using. 1.4 or 1.5? Version 1.4 makes it difficult without hacking the code, in order to show the files embedded into your Xcode project. 1.5 has more features, but you have to email info (at) buzztouch.com or go to their facebook page, in order to request becoming an early adopter of the newer version.

@TOTALLY CONFUSED: Apple and others spent literally tens of millions of dollars creating their book reader and other software you see on the iPhone and iPad. 'All I want to do is have my book LOOK like a book' is exactly what everyone wants. There is no silver bullet, creating mobile software is tough - super tough. We work all day, everyday offering SUPPORT FOR FREE to try to help but we cannot magically turn your content into a book. Your remark that it's 'horrible' that we don't offer telephone support is tough to understand. a) Continue learning how buzztouch works so you can begin to take advantage of what tens of thousands of others have. The community is super helpful and will offer lots of advice and assistance. b) Pay a developer a few thousand dollars to create you the app of your dreams. c) Pay a few hundred dollars and choose from dozens of online services that promise to help you (joint development, you and them)

David, You are right. I'm just trying to figure it out. I'm close, but no cigar. Have icons, etc loaded but your site rejects my uploads for menu items. I'll give up now...

if someone posted on this site that they would help for a fee, my guess is that their day would fill up quickly. David, why not a list of people willing to do so?

Progress - awesome, sounds like your a few steps closer already - whoo hoo. We've tried to engineer a few things like you mention (lists of folks willing to help) but just havn't been able to find the time. Lots of things to consider in that area. For sure it makes perfect sense and we do hope to get something like that done eventually.

@Totally Confused - I'm not understanding why you're uploading your PDFs to BT. Why aren't you simply putting them into your Docs folder in your XCode project? One of my apps has hundreds (Yes, HUNDREDS) of PDFs in it. I've added a few extra features that BT doesn't have or hasn't added yet, but that's a different topic all together. Anyway, you should be loading your resources (like PDFs and HTMLs) directly into your XCode project file and not uploading them to BT. Just trying to help. @David - When you get around to making this list of developers willing to help for free, count me in. I'm in medical school right now, but I have time on the weekends.

Lion, Totally Confused is using 1.4 so there isn't the option to easily include the files in the project folder.

Oh, I see. I didn't know that was an issue with 1.4. That's too bad. Wish there was a way to easily make a 1.4 version into a 1.5.
