Data appears corrupt

My app has been working fine for quite some time. However, when I just launched it I got this message: The data associated with this app appears to be corrupt. Please Try again. Another box comes up, App Update Recommended I click Yes and the data associated... box comes up again. I uninstalled and re-installed the app and the same thing happens. Anyone else having similar problems?

Good ole' iValley, havn't heard that in awhile ;-) We'll get a look and see what may be happening. Nudge this post in a few hours if you don't see a comment.

Thanks David... as always. As (bad) luck would have it there is a huge festival going on right now that is using iValley to provide maps, event schedules etc...

Tracked it to this Unescaped control character '0x9' in the configuration data. Have not found what this is but this is the problem. THe phones not able to read the data downloaded from the service because of this one mysterious character. The 0x9 is not the character itself, it's just a code telling us that the data could not be read. Have you created any new content lately? The control panel has lots of screens so it's tough to know where the corrupt data could be. I'm still looking..post if you have any clues.

I updated the Apple Blossom Festival section today, but have since deleted what I added thinking that could be the problem...

OK...looks like a tab character in some Menu Text entires. May 26 is appearing in the data as May 26 [tab] Could it be that you copy/pasted some dates from Microsoft Word into the control panel? It's looking like the culpirt is in one of these dates, not in the content, but the menu-text / menu item name. How may of these are there? We may need to re-type the dates (if you copy pasted them).. still looking...

Got it! The issue was a date entry in the Menu Text / Title box for Thursday May 26. This is on the Royal Tour Menu. Devices that downloaded this corrupted data will need to 'Refresh' and all should be fine. I've tested this on this end with good results. Android parses the configuration data differently than iOS so it's not surprising that it still worked. Hope the festival is a big hit!

Glad to help. May be on East Coast in July to take my boy to a Red Sox game. Can't find tickets yet ;-)
