PDF maps? or Google Map tiles?

I am really excited by Buzztouch and what it can offer. I am hoping to develop a quiz/trail/tour guiding app for iOS. Unfortunately for the particular area I am interested in, the new native Apple maps in iOS 6 have no detail definition in satellite view. Compared with the old Google maps at a similar scale they are unusable! I am wondering if there is a way to use the superior Google mapping data? If the relatively few map tiles needed could be held within the app, then this would be a great solution as the mobile phone signal round here can be a little slow for on-the-go downloads. Or perhaps more usefully, a solution may be to upload PDFs of ground plans/maps and fix the linked map pins to them? Is this possible? I would really appreciate any help or suggestions.... Thank you.

Hi @LevensGardener, Do you need GPS locator to work on your map? If not you can stick a Google (or other) map on HTML5 and use CSS to drop pins or comments or whatever you want where you want on the map. That way your map is viewable offline too. Farcat

Thanks @farcat I am completely new to this game, so I am looking now at learning some html5. Is it possible to find some finished code somewhere and copy and paste my changes into it? Thank you for your help...

No problem. In my view the best sources to learn HTML are : http://www.w3schools.com and http://www.tizag.com/ That's how I learned. You will also need to learn CSS as well (not difficult). I made some maps using HTML5, I actually started a tutorial but never had time to finish it. Give me a few days and I should be able to PM a code that you can adjust. Farcat

I'm still not quite there- I would be grateful for a little more push in the right direction... https://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?fid=A99D1B8C53244F25D8C6B16&tid=A99D1B8C53244F25D8C6B16 Thanks Chris
