icon issues

I am trying to use my own icons. What is the best way to ensure proper size. besides experimentation that has not been all that fun. :)

Icons for what? Lists, menus, buttons, tabs, phone home-screen? Lots of options (as you well expect). iOS / Android? buzztouch v1.4 or v1.5?

Indeed. I will try again. version 1.5 iOS. icon is for a list. It has come up either quite a bit too large or I am guessing way too small because it just appears white next to the list title.

Ah...got it. List icons can get a bit tricky. Start by usign something simple to make sure you figure out all the settings. The tricky part is the scaling / size / row height concept. Start by using a 30 x 30 pixel .png image. Transparent background images are best. Set the icon size to 40 and the row height to 40 and see if it looks good. Next, to increase the size, add some row-heigh and increase the icon size. It should make sense from there. Lastly, don't forget to add your icons to the Xcode project if you're not using icon URL's in the control panel.

Great. Thanks David. Is the 30 x 30 a safe number with buttons as well? While I have your ear for a minute. I have information that goes out and I would love for it to be located where it will automatically update. I have it as a published google doc. Any other ideas. I just don't think the formatting on google docs is the best for viewing purposes. Thanks again.

To start....native size icons on iPhone home screen are 57 x 57. iPad is 72 x 72. Those look really nice in button menus. Try using a 57 x 57 background image for the button, then plop an icon on top of it. No icons look great too if the background is better without. Example: People's faces or video thumbnails look great with the image as the backgroudn and NO icon. Round the corners a tad to give the apple look. Dynamic: Could talk for every on this. The best document type to use (word, pdf, html, powerpoint) will depend on the type of content, your skill, and your needs. Test each of these using a Custom URL screen to see how they work before you decide the best approach.

Yikes...way to many opinions on that one! lol. The best thing, the 100% sure way to get it approved to to have it: a) look nice. Bogus graphics kill em' everytime b) Offer some fun, interesting or useful content that isn't easly 'found' with a regular browser. Quizzes, maps and other phone-centric things increase your chances hugely.

Sorry. I meant like step one do this. step two.... make sure you ? There is a correct procedure about becoming a developer besides paying the fee. I am assuming that it is not just a matter of clicking a send button like an email. Thanks

If I decide to add custom icons (rather than links to the icons) after submitting the app to the app store, does that mean I have to resubmit?

Anytime you add anyting to your Xcode project then re-compile you need to re-submit.
