Mac & Android

David has helped to clarify many of the grey areas of Buzztouch development and I thank him for that.I'm just curious why BuzzTouich 1.5 included Iphone before it included Android? Was it just easier? The more I read about Iphone dev, the more restrictive I find it. The dev programs require membership with fees. As I understand it, you can only sell your Apple Apps in the Apple store and they get a 30% commission. Apple also does a censoring of apps. This censoring may be related to adult content, political views or anything else they may find offensive. Hacking your Iphone gets you around the limitation of loading apps from other sources but most casual users won't do this. Apple is a great product but I have never understood their iron grip on the operating system and distribution of software. Had Apple opened their architecture in the early days, they would have overrun the PC market. Can't wait for Android to be supported in your new version.

Lots of reasons, and we could talk about this for hours and hours. The two biggest reasons: a) Because the overwhelming majority of our end users work with iOS FIRST, then Android. b) Android may be 'open' but it's very very difficult to get your head around for first-timers. You can't imagine how many times a day we try to help folks 'figure out' how to get Eclipse + the Android SDK working on their machines, tiring to say the least. Apple + iPhone ADK = just works.

Thank's David, personally I don't speak Apple but I have always heard how user friendly it is. I am fairly familiar with another system like BuzzTouch but for Android only. If your Android 1.5 is anything like the Apple 1.5 it will make app creation much easier for the non-tech types. Looking forward to seeing how things develop.

@CritterLes - I agree. Im also waiting for the 1.5 for android here. While waiting and if it´s not to much to ask could you tell me what android system you´re using? I have been googling for develop to android but havent found anything that is as good as BT here ( and my ecplise/titanuim installation have gone slightly mad so nothing is working for me when it comes to the andriod departement for now) . If you dont want to mention it here please use mail sugbloggen (at) gmail.com @David I hope you dont mind ;) BR/Stefan

@Stefan: Not at all. We're all about helping...if another method's better, short-term or long-term, it's 100% fine. I find it most interesting that we are only now getting started. Solutions like ours spring up almost daily and for sure lots and lots of them are compelling offers. We too are interested in learning about other Android development tools and look forward to dialogues like this one ;-)

Since David said it was OK to post other alternatives here I will. I have been using App Inventor for a few weeks now. Parts are point and click and parts are graphical logic based. You don't actually code so it's easier but some programming background would certainly make it easier to use. As with all systems, there are limitations at this point. Les
