Xcode Apple, Eclipse Android

Sorry I may have asked this as part of another thread when I should have started another subject. FAQ mentions both Eclipse & Xcode. Do I understand correctly, Xcode is only for use on Mac for Apple devices and Eclipse is for use on PC for Android devices? They are not interchangeable. Thank You

Eclipse for android can be used on either mac or pc for creating Android Apps...for making iPhone Apps you need Xcode on a mac, you cannot compile iphone app without an up to date mac. Eclipse= Mac & PC Xcode=Mac only

Thanks for the input. I was really hoping there was a PC software that allowed you to create an app that could work with both Android and Apple. It would be nice to have something that would compile the app for Iphones , provide an Iphone emulator without running on a Mac. maybe Someday. THanks Again
