Problem regarding iPad landscape launch image

I'm about to submit my App to the App store. After finishing all my graphics, I started adding them in xcode. I came across a problem while adding a Landscape iPad launch image. My problem: http://i.imgur.com/bkHjE.png (Please note that I did not take this pic - I found it on the Internet, but it gives a clear example of the problem which I'm currently facing) How do you go with adding an iPad landscape launch image in Xcode 4? I have read that, without this image, your app may not be approved. Is this correct? Thank you to those who reply; I really appreciate the help. Buzztouch has always had a great, active, and helpful community as well as providing a great service themselves.

Jenny- It's quite easy, as you drag and drop the image. The default image for a BuzzTouch app is named Default-Landscape~ipad.png. You can replace this but the image needs to be the proper measurement. Does that help? Or are you still having an issue?

Hello, I used the default image in the BT_Images folder called Default-Landscape~ipad.png and still got a warning from xcode saying it's an incorrect size. Did you even view the photo of my problem? http://i.imgur.com/bkHjE.png As you can see, something is wrong.

Jenny, Yes, l reviewed the sample photo of you provded. It was lacking in information on what might be causing your specific issue. Clearly it shows an image that is far too small for the iPad. As the image clearly shows the requiered dimension, I assumed that is what your image measures and gave up info for placing the photo in the summary, as you requested. Please provide more details. (If you need to illustrate an error, bug or other issue, it's best to take your own screen capture, as that is more helpful. Command + Apple + 4) The graphics you created, what are the pixel dimensions? If you open the BT iPad portrait image in a photo editing software, you will see it is 1004 x 768. If you based your graphics on those provided images, then that may be the issue. Without more info it is difficult to sort out what is amiss.

How come your resolutions is 71 instead of 72? Can that be the problem? BR/ Stefan

Hello Stefan, I have indeed tried changing my PPI to 72 rather than 71, but still have no luck. I'm currently updating my xcode (4.0.1) to 4.0.2 to see if this happens to fix the bug. I will report back with my findings. Thanks!

For iPad images you should make the images 132 ppi (dpi) as that will look best at maximum resolution of the screen.

Updating to 4.0.2 didn't seem to fix this problem. Can anybody please send me/post a picture which they use for their iPad Landscape launch image? I would like to know if it's my images thats messing up, or xcode itself. I tried creating a new project in xcode, then a blank 1024x748 132PPI .png image in photoshop, then loaded the image in xcode, but it still gave me the same warning.

After doing some googling and reading a lot of forums, I have yet to find a solution. It appears that this is a bug after the release of 4.0.1.

Hmm. I looked once again at your screenshot and discovered that the image dimensions is 1024x768 when you got the error. But when I look at the Default-Landscape~ipad.png in my xcode the dimensions is 1004x768. Have you tried to change the dimensions to 1004x768? BR/Stefan

Stefan, I tried to reproduce Jenny's issue and it also occurred when I attempted to insert a new landscape launch image using either default image from BT (1004 x 768), and a new image I created (1024 x 768) Xcode 4 is seemingly still quite buggy months after it's launch.

I used a 1024x768 image (even with the warning) and went and submitted my App. It passed the validation test, so everything should go well. If Apple rejects it due to the iPad landscape image, then I'll write back about the problem. Thanks everyone!

Alright. Good luck! If nothing else; I'll get xcode 3.

Apple approved the update of my app with the iPad landscape launch image warning that was on xcode4. So give it a try, I think Apple is aware of this situation and approves the app, ignoring the warning.
