Simluators / Emulators in Android can be setup soooooo many different ways. The basic simulators that come with the Android SDK almost never play videos, send emails, open PDF's, etc. If you can, plug in your device, it will show in the AVD (Android Virtual Device) list so you can choose it to test on.
