iOS development

This may be a very basic question but do I need a MAC to do iPhone development. I started with Android and I am close to getting the hang of it, just thinking ahead to next steps.

actually you do not need a physical MAC...you can dual boot a Windows and MAC OS on the same equipment with a few little tweaks. You can buy the Snow Leopard upgrade disk for $29, which is actually a full version. Then you can download the latest Xcode & iOS Versions once you get setup.

WOW, thanks. That may be a little more advanced than I am equipped to do. Give me the basic version on how to dual boot my laptop and I'm off to the races.

It's not that difficult...you can actually install whatever OS's you like along side each other...Windows, Linux, Snow Leopard. You just need to partition the hard drive with a large enough space to hold the OS. example: http://thegadgets.net/2009/11/21/how-to-dual-boot-mac-os-x-snow-leopard-and-windows-7-on-a-pc/ You can probably find some good tutorials on Youtube also.

Running Mac OS X on a PC is referred to Hackintosh. It is not as simple as Everest claims. It's almost impossible to have a successful hackintosh install and EVERYTHING on your PC work. And for a laptop, its even more difficult due to the lack of touchpad drivers. You just can't buy a Snow Leopard install disc, pop it in a PC, and install Mac OS X. If you wish to learn more about Hackintosh, please search it in google. Also note that if you have an AMD CPU, it's nearly impossible to install Hackintosh successfully. And even if you do, it most likely will not be stable. Make sure you have an Intel CPU!
