Enterprise Apps - In House Apple Apps

David, I've been asked by my hospital to build an in-house / enterprise application for our radiology department. They would like to view the data from an IPad. Will the format we are currently using on buzztouch allow me to successfully build such an app. I think its the same format but, am not to sure. Please advise. Thanks Anthony

Lots and lots of this going on. Awesome. Yes, use the v1.5 builder and tinker with individual screen settings for 'Large Device' when necessary. Some screens allow small and large devices (iPhone / iPad) to use different settings for different things. Example: A menu may have larger rows or larger font on an iPad so you would set two values for the sizes, one for small devices, one for large. Depending on how much content you have, you'll be well served trying to get it all in included in the app so it doesn't need the internet to operate. If you have less than a few hundred files this is ideal. If you have more than that you'll likely need to rely on dynamic, internet served content (from your buzztouch control panel or your own site). Lots and lots of design considerations for this kind of thing but these types of apps generally work out great because the intended audience is specific allowing you to work on only what's important to them. a) Experiement with all online content untill you get it they way you like / want / need b) Show your department, get some feedback, tinker a bit more c) Create a version with the content included in the Xcode project if it's reasonable d) If you cannot do c, OK, add an about screen or a help screen describing where the content comes from so users understand the online / offline dependency (some data will only need to download once) e) Submit

This was very helpful. Any good source of where to learn how to distribute app if not using iTunes?

There are lots of Enterprises and specialized app's being created and distrubuted via Apple's OTA (Over the Air) feature. In fact, services like TestFlight.com help with this too. The idea is that if you're user-list is 100 or less, like a small firm or group of doctors, you can add their device id's to the Apple control panel, in essence they are 'development devices' and then use the OTA distribution thus avoiding the app store. Not sure of an other alternatives in the US. There are some in other countries but I only speak English so it's hard to follow the conversions ;-) Lastly, the Jailbreak method always an option. Cydia has millions of apps - all Jailbroken. Depends on the audience.
