Like you said, Certificate / Signing errors a zero to do with the project / code your are signing and everything to do with the Code Signing Identity you setup in the Apple Developer Site. Code-signing errors have nothing to do with your source-code, they have everything to do with your Provisioning Profile and it's relationship to your device and App Id.
