Text file help

I have a few apps that are heavy on content, mostly custom text files, all done in v1.4. Thought I'd start building a 1.5 version of one that's already in use to see how it goes. I cant for the life of me figure out how to get a page to display with proper formatting. I can cut and past in the custom html area, but all I get is plain text and the editor features of 1.4 are gone. Obviously I have no idea how to use html, so I cannot format the large amount of text properly. I tried using Word for Mac, saving as HTML but buzztouch never seems to recognize the resulting file. There has to be an easy way to do this, my brain is mush at the moment so if anyone has a hint, other than learn HTML, I'd appreciate it. Trying to stay away from PDF and DOC files just to keep the data load lower. Thanks, Tim Wolf

Hey, have you tried Iweb? If you start a new Test site, and build your pages, you can publish to folder. In that folder will be the html files. Then you use the html page to load. It actually works really well. Give it a try!

That looks promising. Didn't even know I had Iweb, still getting used to this Mac nonsense. I still cannot get the html doc to load, I just get the Data for this screen has not been downloaded warning. I placed the HTML file in the BT_Docs folder. The file opens and is viewable in several programs, but just can't seem to get the simulator to use it. The sample html page works fine, can even change the sample and get that to show. Grr.

Have you put the html in the BT_Docs folder IN Xcode? It actually has to be in the project, not the folder you downloaded.

The Xcode console is saying the file that I put in the BT_Docs directory is not there, but it is. WTF; 2011-05-08 20:26:22.096 rcemsfieldguide2[21835:207] BT_fileManager: File does not exist in Xcode bundle: Blank_2.html 2011-05-08 20:26:22.096 rcemsfieldguide2[21835:207] BT_fileManager: File does not exist in cached directory: Blank_2.html It also appears to be correctly referenced in the assets.file

Great gobs of gooseshit Batman! Yeah, that was it. I put them all in the BT_Docs folder on the drive, not in the project. Good catch. Thanks A LOT!! Tim

It shows up, but without the formatting (bold, italics, font and size, etc.). Open the same file in preview or Acrobat or Word and it looks right. Ideas?

Hm... I don't. I haven't played with it too much, all my html files i built in iweb are online (because they have to be active). I'm not sure what to tell you. Maybe someone else will have a suggestion.

Tim- If you have MS Word, you can create a document and save as an HTML file. Then you can try to use the code it generates. Otherwise you need to learn HTML or hire someone.

Got it to work right. I was trying to use Word initially when this all started, then other programs to try to get the HTML formatting to jive. No luck. After Eric suggested I try what I already KNEW didn't work I thought I'd take another look. In Word for Mac when you save as a HTML there is a button for ''Web Options''. Click that then ''Encoding'' on the top, then in the drop down select UTF-8. The resulting HTML file works perfectly. Thanks Eric.
