iPhone Simulator Doesn't show after download

I have been developing my project and testing/reviewing in the simulator. Suddenly, today, I have made some changes to my program and when I download it to xcode/simulator - I don't get the picture of the iPhone and therefore I have no means to check my work. Have I altered a setting in xcode - my program downloads from BT and comes up in xcode with no errors. It says I'm running the Simulator but my screen view just doesn't show me the iPhone for me to check.
