As the Agent or original enrollee into the Apple Dev program, you are the only one who can compile for submission...if you want the app listed under your Apple Dev account (or you would have to give someone access to your Dev account to create the necessary provisioning profiles, certs, etc. to do it on your behalf)

The issue is not that you need to not only compile it, but you need to have a developer account for $99 a year to submit the app also.

Well I thought I saw another thread where someone else helped out with compiling. But if I am the only one who can compile it... What do I need to specifically do? I assume I need: * Mac hardware * $99 developer account * Compiler * ??? Also FYI, the app is basically some specialized news feeds and links to the stuff like the news subital area of the website and shortcuts to other online features... And I am releasing this as a free feature, so I don't think I need a complicated system to make money off of this. I'm starting to think it might cost less to just use other services on the net to build this... Programming languages are usually not free, but these phone apps are as bad as the browser wars back in the day, reprogramming for each web browser... :P

Correct. Once you sign up for a dev account you can download the newest version of Xcode/iOS to test and compile. You can have someone else do it for you once you have an active developer account but I would not let just anyone have that kind of access.

Well, the other issue is that Apple usually wants more functionality added to a app then just a ported version of an existing website.

Quote: Well, the other issue is that Apple usually wants more functionality added to a app then just a ported version of an existing website. Aha, that's too bad and that's a little strange considering the applications buzztouch offers are fairly simple. And as I see it, simpler focused applications are more often what people want. So it's too bad if Apple screens those out. Kind of off topic, but stand alone applications abstracted to the web like phone apps, spoon.net and what I consider spoons opposite abstracted environments like second life, all have the potential to become the web3.0. But I think adopting policies like screening out simplified applications, that apple could screen themselves out from that revolution, much like microsoft did early on ignoring the web1.0 revolution. Simple is good.

erichopf is right. Apple will reject an app they deem has no value so having quite a bit of functionality useful to the user is important.

Actually, if you have some HTML and PHP knowledge, you can use buzztouch to make a fairly decent app with good functionality. It would just allow you to cut down on the development time. Something some here have used to varying success is and a unique function to the app, such as a 20 question quiz on accident statistics, such as- What is the distance from home for the average driver involved in an accident?- a)1 mile b)Under 5 miles c)Over 10 miles d)Over 50 miles etc.

Buzztouch is a very powerful app building tool..especially version 1.5. The apps I am creating are very pro looking and are well received...aside from building a game there is not much that v1.5 can't do for content in an app...ask to get on the early adopter list for v1.5 if you are not already

Ok, I'm going to get another guy I work with in on this. Sounds like: * The 1.5 version is a good one to get in on * And amping it up a little with some questions/games. There's some stuff we've already done that could be plugged into that. Anyway, my goal is a fast turn around to crank out whatever floats Apples boat and to provide a free app with key info people are likely to use this app for on their phone, specifically checking accidents and submitting news. Let me know if you have any more ideas. Thanks!
