1 Time message? Android app

I wanted to know if it is possible in buzz touch to send an update message to users as opposed to adding more to my already cluttered menu. I know that with many apps that connect to a database, when I start up the app it will give a pop up telling me about some concert that i can get discounted or some carrier that has a promotion or what not and I wanted to know if it's possible to do that in our apps to possibly promote sharing, or let people know about updates to your app when they start it?

This is a good idea and something we are working on. In buzztouch v1.5 (Early Adopters are doing amazing things with this beta relaese) apps can have a splash screen. We are extending the splash screen logic and creating a 'message screen' that will allow you to do exactly what you describe. v1.5 is coming soon for Android too. In the current release it's tough to do what you describe without some serious kung-fu ;-)

Thanks! I am going to sign up to be an early adopter ASAP! That is very exciting to hear. I love this tool and it is enabling me to make a pretty awesome app that is slowly picking up steam in the android marketplace. Thanks for all your help! And also in 1.5 are plugins enabled in custom URL by default? Because I had to edit that code to create my app to be worth even using.

Cool, we're happy to help you leverage a new technology....thanks for the kind words. Not sure what you mean about 'are plugins enabled'?

In the Custom URL for the android browser the browser plugins aren't enabled (flash is the big one) and I had to put 2 lines of code in my java file for it to enable it which makes rich multimedia possible in the app.

I sent it. and for anyone else who is wondering I added this code WebView mWebView = (WebView) findViewById(R.id.myWebView); mWebView.getSettings().setPluginsEnabled(true); and it allows me to access adobe flash player in the custom url section. Put it underneath loadBrowser(loadUrl); }
