Do I need to have xcode downloaded to produce my app??

I created the app I wanted, and it says all the steps, then it tells me to open my app, then unzip archive and open xcode. What is xcode? If someone could help me AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, I would greatly appreciate it! And also, I am pondering about in my work, I am completely confused, I do not really know how to add the app screens I want. One last request, I tried adding a page onto my app from Microsoft Word, and I saved my page as .doc/.xdoc, and it still says that I have to have my page uploaded as a .doc/.xdoc, please help!!

Yes, you do *edit* sorry 5 month old worked out hot to hit post. You need Xcode to build the app and if you want to put it on a device, it requires a Developers Account which is $99 a year. As for adding the file, where are you trying to upload to? Via which page?

Isn't there a value free offer to produce your app if you apply to be a producer of apple?

Nate, I don't follow, apply to be a producer for Apple. They have tens of thousands of developers worldwide and a ton in house for Apple apps, so there is no value free alternative, as they don't need to give incentives to folks in order to create apps for iOS. You can download the old version of Xcode 3.2.x for free but you will be unable to run it on devices, only the simulator. The newer version you have to pay for, either just to play with I think it's $4.99, or it comes with a developer account.

@ Natedude234: Kindly read the Forum Guidelines at the top of the long list of forum posts. Also, review the FAQ's before asking questions like this. I reccommend this because of the title of your question and your 'what is Xcode' comment. I make these suggestions in an effort to help, not offend. The more your figure out on your own, the more others will help you figure out when you need it ;-)
