Xcode 4, Distribution. Completely Lost.

Hi, I have finished my App via Buzztouch but I cant seem to find a guide for using Xcode 4. All the tutorials I have followed have got me nowhere because they are all the last version of Xcode. Ive created my Distribution Profile and added it to Xcode 4, however Im clueless on how to build the App ready for distribution. I have changed the build settings to Distribution but havnt a clue of where to go next. Could someone please offer some advice im really stuck, Many thanks.

UPDATE: I think (more like hope) its all been done correctly now. Ive managed to submit it for review on iTunes, i really stumbled through the process though. Ive submitted the .ipa file to iTunes for review so fingers crossed all is well. Could someone clear something up for me though? Every walkthrough said I had to compress the archived file then upload using the Application Loader. However it never worked. When I tried uploading the .ipa it went through first time. I tried submitting the App directly through Xcode 4 but it crashed every time. I have no idea lol.

I don't know for sure but I think in xcode3 you had to compress. AFAIK, in xcode4 it's built in, so what you have done is right. But David Book or someone with experience with xcode4 will reply your question soon.

I'm no expert on this by any means and still fumble a little with codesigning every time I try sending an update. I am used to compressing my final project and submitting it to iTunes via application loader which still works for me even with xcode 4. I did not even realize until I read that your post that this can now be done via Xcode. I found this site that helps clarify a little: http://www.weston-fl.com/blog/?p=2442 I think I'll personally stick with application loader.

Heres how we do it - this method does not depend on Xcode 3 or 4, doesn't matter. a) Build your app in release mode with provisioning profile set, etc. b) Expand the 'products' node in Xcode c) highlight your product (your app) then 'Reveal in Finder' d) When finder opens, select it and 'Compress' (this creates an archive) e) Use application loader to upload this archive. Works everytime as long as the provisioning profile is set to a valid dev.

Both Xcode and Eclipse are mentioned in the FAQ's. Are they interchangeable or are they meant to be used for specific development paths. I.E. Android=Eclipse and Xcode=Apple. If I understand correctly XCode does not function on a PC yet. I also understand that on Buzztouch 1.5 Android is not ready yet. Thank You

Hi CritterLes: FOR SURE, two different platforms for two different operating systems. Xcode is used to compile iOS apps (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) and Eclipse is used to compile Android apps. Xcode is usable only on a Mac, Eclipse is useable on Mac or Windows. This means you'll need a Mac to compile your iOS apps.

Hi David. I hope this isn't a stupid question. I just compressed my app in the finder to a zip file. Now how do I use the xcode application loader? Is it something in xcode or is it a totally seperate software I have to use? Would appreciate the help.
