Page Organization

Hello! I now have about 500 individual pages for my app, with hundreds more coming... Here's the question. Is there any way that Buzztouch can allow folders in the control panel page display? I would love to be able to organize my pages into subfolders so that I can keep better track of what I've finished and what pages belong where. Looking forward to the new big changes!

There are subfolders. Go to manage this apps menues & screens Then go to where the list with all the options is, and I think its at the top and its called Subfolder. Hope this helps!

I'm sorry, I'm not seeing anything that says subfolder. And I should probably clarify... I'm not looking for folders within the app. I'm looking for internal subfolders purely for my organization for use on the Manage Menus and Screens page. Thanks for the quick reply though.

@ apptrepreneur is referring to v1.4, not buzztouch v1.5. Hoogler's got a good point...tons of screens make for tons of organizational questions. The concept of folders make sense. This idea (organizing) was the reason for making nicknames. Originally, we figured if you strategically named your files with nicknames you could easily pull up 'a list' (like a folder) by searching the first part of a nickname. Example: You could name maps like: Map: Location one, Map: Location two, etc. Entering MAP in the search box would produce all these screens making it easier to manage. However, what we have found is almost nobody is changing the default Naviation Bar Title for each screen and their titles end up being the default nickname - MAP: Locaiton one would be a bogus navigation bar title! We'll ponder this a bit and see if we can come up with a better idea for content management. Most apps don't have hundreds and hundreds of files so it's a non-issue usually. Your case does make sense though. Hmm....

Yeah, I have been strategically naming my pages, but map, menu, info still brings up 150 or so options each :P Nearly every one of my pages has two different titles (navbar and nickname), having done this in anticipation of a search menu. While I can easily find any of the pages I need, I would like a way to tuck away any pages that I know are completely finished, so as to not accidently affect them. Also, my location maps' nicknames have no special designation, since they are the ones I want to include in a possible search menu. This means that I can't bring these up by themselves using the above nickname technique. I also realize that my case isn't the norm, so if there is no easy way to do it, don't let it clutter up your schedule. I know you have much more important, exciting features to worry about :)

I have been naming my screen names with unique identification, making them easier to find. The built-in search is really helpful. I have several Restaurant pages for example. I prefix and name all similar pages like this: rest_JoesDiner, rest_JoesDiner_map, rest_JoesDiner_call, rest_JoesDiner_url etc... The built-in v1.5 control panel search makes it easy to find stuff. If I need to change the phone number to Joe's Diner, I just search for rest_JoesDiner_call, or just partially, like entering Diner will call it up too. Since I prefixed all my restaurant pages with rest_, I can call them all up by simply searching for rest_.

David, I was thinking, as I come from a web-design background, perhaps in the future you could use some of the back end layout, organizational system from WordPress since it is open-source. The quick edit feature might work better, as well as a category option. Just throwing ideas out there. I know you are busy with the big photo and other feature update today. Good luck, hope you don't break anything. =oP

Yeah..this is good idea. We've dug around a bit and have a few ideas. However...we really REALLY need to get Android done and control panel things like this will likely take a back-seat for awhile. I HATE saying that but it's a matter of juggling everything. UTF-8 / Unicode database migration done...fingers crossed. SOOOOOO many records were moved, gotta be something broken ;-) Look for the iOS update around midnight?
