Do I need a business license to sell apps?

Do I need to get a business license to sell apps on the Android Market or Apple App Store?

This depends on lots and lots of other questions. Business Licenses, assuming you are in the US, are generally provided by local authorities. Example: Your city may require you to have a business license to conduct business in their town / jurisdiction. This is an endless debate online and there are no formalized answers. I'm thinking there are countless app developers that DO have local business licenses and countless more that do not. Again, waaaaay beyond the scope of this forum ;-)

If you sell your app as a personally registered app you do not. If you register it as a business account, they will require you to submit you Tax ID #.
