Can anybody answer this for me?

First time and I want to make an application. I have a brand new mac book pro, haven't touched it yet. What programs before I get started to do I need to successfully build an application, and how much will it all cost because I can't find it on apple's website. This new computer is going to be only for my app development. Please help, thank you

It will cost you $99/year to be an apple developer. That's it. Go to the following website to register: http://developer.apple.com/programs/ios/ Once registered you can download the latest ios SDK and Xcode which is all you need to make an app... and maybe some coffee/beer for all the hoops apple makes you jump through on the way. good luck!

Also, in the future, try to put more description in the discussion board topic... makes it easier to find later on and for other people with the same questions. Josh

Will do. One last question, is ios SDK and xcode come together as one package when you download it from apple? Or are they separate?

Just to clarify... You can register with Apple as a developer for _free_ and get access to the Xcode 3 and iOS SDK: http://developer.apple.com/programs/register/ After you register, you can download the Xcode 3.2.6 for Mac OS X 10.6 and iOS 4.3 package, which gives you everything you need to build/compile/test your code. Once you have something tested and working, if you want to _distribute_ your app (for free or paid) on Apple's App Store, then the lowest cost option is the $99 /Year subscription (for individual/company): http://developer.apple.com/programs/which-program/

Since you are using buzztouch to get into the app development biz, you might want to put your apps out for Android users too. You can use the same buzztouch apps, but you have to download them as Android source code (same download page) and compile them with Eclipse: http://www.eclipse.org and the Android SDK. Both are free and open source. Then register on the Android marketplace ($25.00 one time fee) http://market.android.com It is a little more work for each app but you instantly double the market base for your apps.
