Problems adding the ADT to Eclipse

Oh brother! 5 hours of trying to install the android SDK! I have downloaded Eclipse for MAC. It seems to have installed fine. Classic Version. I have downloaded Android SDK Mac x86 (it unzipped in the downloads file.) I have downloaded ADT 10.0 (it seems to have installed fine as it show in the what's installed details in eclipse) When I go to Eclipse in the preferences section I type in the Android SKD Mac x86 folder (in the downloads folder) /platforms/android-4 (is this even the correct location?) apply and ok do nothing, nothing is added. I can click on the Android SDK Mac X86 /tools Android and the Android SDK and AVD manager works. and It shows android 1.6 api 4 rev 3in the installed packages. How do I connect the two. I am completely lost. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Heather

Hi Heaather....5 hours.... yikes. Eclipse is for sure more complex than it needs to be. iOS and Xcode are far easier and we wish we could make it easier to understand. Bummer. I'm thinking you'll be well served to see this: http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing.html first and make sure your Eclipse setup is working for Android. The best way to see if you've installed everything is: a) Click File > New > Project - You should see a New Android Project choice (if you don't, you don't have the Android SDK installed in Eclipse b) If you do see the New Android Project, open the AVD (Android Virtual Device) Manager from the menu. You should see Google API's 1.6. These are necessary to compile buzztouch android apps. This is not Anroid 1.6 API's - Google 1.6 API's are different and required.

Well a day and a half later, I have finally installed my creation on the Android simulator : ) This is a video I found very useful. It mentioned that the newest version of Eclipse (3.6) is not fully compatible with the android sdk, so he suggested an earlier version (3.5.2). I deleted the 3.6 version and installed the 3.5.2 version and things got better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDHSXWZd5a4 Things I learned that might help someone else: - When choosing the preferences (in Eclipse) choose just the folder named (android-sdk-mac_x86) not any of the folders inside or the zip file. - File New (on my eclipse) there is no drop down choice for Android on the main drop down. I went to File /New/ Project and then a drop down list had Android listed. - In the Android SDK and AVD manager in the Available Packets section click on 3rd party Add On to find the Google API's needed for this. I choose all google choices except the Marketing and AdMob choices. Hopefully the upload to the store process is much simpler than Apples. While Apples process is better than it was, it is still challenging. Thanks for your program and your help.

Great info.... I'm sure folks will benefit from your pain (if it makes it any easier!). This target is always moving and your discoveries about the latest Eclipse release not playing kindly with Android is HUGE. Thanks for taking the time to post this.
