Android Simulator

I have followed all of the steps to but I cannot view my app in the Android simulator. I cannot populate the The Android Project screen with the correct info. When I create a project from an existing source I continue to get an error.

Did you download and install the SDK through the AVD manager?

if you're in eclipse click window tab at the top go to the bottom of the list and you should see the line Android SDK and AVD Manager if you don't you need to read the http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/devices/index.html if you do then go through the prompts to install the SDKs.

The Android SDK/AVD line is there. I have about 15 installed packages.

ok what is in the Package Explorer? If its your project, then find the green circle with the white triangle click that and the simulator should open (if you made one), if you haven't made one open the AVD manager choose virtual device and create one. If nothing is in your Package Explorer right click go to new project then android (or new android) depending on your version. choose create from existing source code, upload your file and finish.

I have done all that, each one of those steps. The upload the file and finish will not let me launch, I get an error code that says this already exists

Android Simulator Tip: Generally, it's best to open the AVD and launch the simulator of your choice BEFORE installing your app 'on it.' a) Open the AVD b) Select the emulator you already setup, click Run (or launch or whatever your buttons says). c) Wait forever, sometimes minutes even for the simulator to launch. (leave it running while you work with Eclipse so you dont' have to keep opening, closing, waiting) d) Highlight your project, click 'Run' then 'Android Project' e) Look at the console, it should show you the results of it trying to install it on the already running simulator

I must say I am starting to feel kinda dumb at this point, I have done everything you said. My problem is the new project input screen, my compiled app will not finish due to errors- which I don't understand.

Just put the picture on a website, DropBox, facebook, anywhere online we can see it. You're missing a step somewhere. This: 'My problem is the new project input screen, my compiled app will not finish due to errors' doesn't make any sense. Are you able to create a new project, then it won't compile...or...are not not able to create a new project. These are two totally different steps. First you make the project: New Android Project > From Existing Source. Then, after that's done, you compile it.

I am not able to create a new project. I have created the test as you demonstrated on your website but I have not been able to complete the process with an actual app. >From Existing Source is where I am having the problem. Check FB for Jireh Mobile page, the image is there.

Look at the image on Facebook. The Android v1.6 API's are selected. Look at the Video we make. You don't appear to have Google v1.6 API 's installed. There is a huge difference. You need to install the Google API's v1.6 before this will work.

@David thanks for all of the help, the Google API's were the issue. @ Brent-thanks for your help, greatly appreciated. Everything is in working order.
