problems with landscape again

I noticed that my home screen (3 rows of 3 buttons) doesn't act right in landscape... they are all on the left side of the screen. This was a problem before which you fixed but now its back. I think I may just bite the bullet and make my app portrait mode only. I would really love to eventually have the ability to control that screen by screen since landscape would be so much better to view some of the tables and documents. But for now portrait mode it is... So right now, my top three requests for next version of Xcode in order are: 1) ad support (and you're already on top of that!) 2) screen by screen support for landscape ---take a vacation here--- 10) ability to save/print pdfs and other documents (I see this is already an option for images, coming soon I think) One final thing I think would be great down the road is to bring the Buzztouch app back so we could see what each individual screen would like like on our device without having to go through x code and the simulator. Would also be great for files we've created but aren't necessarily accessible in our app yet. This would let us troubleshoot layouts and whatnot before customers see them. And as always, thanks for everything you guys do. I uploaded a preliminary version of my app to itunes connect a few days ago so people can beta test it for me. I'll let you know when it's live! Josh

Hi Josh, not sure if you tried the new Xcode and ios 4.3 with the new simpler Organizer yet. It is pretty easy to attach your device, pick the scenario you want to debug & run. I must say the output console feedback in Xcode debugger can be very useful. I don't think we need the buzztouch app in my humble opinion but I see what you mean.

Okay, but let's say you've created a new menu list you're working on. You don't have it linked to in your app so (if your app is already live) no one will see it... which is good since it's still under development. In that case there is no way to play with it on your device. Right?

Dave, when searching the forum for info on how to put my app in just portrait mode I came across your reply that having screen rotation control for individual screens is very difficult and requires serious programming kung-fu so never mind. Portrait mode will be just lovely :)

Hi mutzy, what I do to test on a)ipod touch 8gb b)ipod touch 32gb c)iPad 64gb is as follows: First, I connect each device via cable to my macbook (one at a time), and make sure you see them under Xcode, Organizer window and that they have a valid provisioning profile. Then , in Xcode, I select proper build settings and code signing options, and then in debug mode in Xcode 4 with ios 4.3 I can run and debug with device attached. All this is possible even if you have a live app and when your app is not yet published to apple. Apple gives us up to 100 devices (i think they call them ad-hoc's) that can be used for pre-publication testing. Is this what you are wanting to do? It should not matter that you already have a published app. You can always work on the new version in this way.

Miereter, Thanks for the help but I'm not being clear. My app is currently submitted to the app store so it's not live yet but will be soon. I know I can test my app on my device with the ios simulator (doing it right now actually). As of now, if I want to add a new menu list, I do so on the Buzztouch control panel and add it to an existing menu. So if my home page has an icon for more info and I want to add a menu list for, say, contacts, I would go to the more info page and add a new menu list. Then I can add stuff like email, call me, facebook, etc. But if my app is already live and I add te contacts menu list it will viewable instantaneously to anyone with my app. If I instead just create a new menu list named contacts from scratch I can then work out all the options (such as getting facebook to work the way I want) and add it to the more info page when it's ready. But until it's viewable I can't se it in the ios simulator. Make sense? This is just an example. I have many custom html screens that I am playing around with and want to make sure they look right I attach them to a menu (and therefore go live).

Aha. I see what you mean now. Perhaps what we need is the ability to 'clone an app' then you could work on 'version 2.0' without affecting version 1.0 which could be live. This implies when version 2.0 goes live though that version 1.0 will no longer be useful. Hmmm, perhaps buzztouch can advise how we can work on updates to version 1.0 of our app without messing up the live version on the app store...but if you work on a cloned copy of it, (assuming we had a clone app tool), at least it won't affect version 1.0 on the app store, then when version 2.0 of app works, you could carefully repeat the steps for version 1.0 (Ugh..sounds like double work right?)..What if we had a 'magic wand' to say 'Buzz Upgrade Version 1.0' using all the new cool features in our 2.0 app (which we tested OK in the simulator)..What do you think?
